Overtime games aplenty in final weeks of season NJC looks to be in driver’s seat to host regionals; women’s side up for grabs Since Feb. 7, there has been four overtime games in men’s basketball and one in women’s basketball. The overtime parade started as the WNCC men topped Trinidad State 100-97 on the road. Trinidad held a 46-43 lead at halftime before the two teams were tied at 86 entering the extra period. WNCC then outscored the Trojans 14-11 to get the win. If that wasn’t enough, Dawson won on Feb. 10 in another shootout 102-93 over Bismarck State. The Bucs led 48-39 before the game was tied 82-82 after regulation. In the extra period, The Bucs outscored Bismarck 20-11. Then, on Tuesday and Wednesday, the south sub-region had two more overtime contests. The first was McCook topping North Platte 106-98 on Tuesday, followed by Lamar getting by Otero 89-83 on Wednesday. The North Platte and McCook contest was a dandy as North Platte held a 41-34 lead at intermission. The second half saw McCook come back to outscore the nights 53-46 to force a tie at 87 at the end of regulation. McCook started the overtime period on a run and eventually outscored the Knights 19-11 to get the win. Continued on next page
