BUILD SHIPS AND CROSS THE EQUATOR AT MARSTAL MARITIME MUSEUM At Marstal Maritime Museum, you can build your own ship, crawl down into the cabin of a “real” sailing ship, and try climbing all the way up a ship’s mast! KYS FRØEN AT SØBYGAARD Bring a packed lunch with you and enjoy a whole day in the countryside at Søbygaard, where you can also visit the whittling workshop, try shooting a bow and arrow, bake pancakes over an open fire and make your own kiln-fired beads of clay . The Kys Frøen centre has the same opening hours as Søbygaard (see page 48) . MAKE YOUR OWN SOAP AT THE ÆRØ SOAP COMPANY You will find Ærø Soap Company at a little smallholding in Bregninge . HAVE A GO AT SOME AUTHENTIC SEAFARING CRAFTS AT DET GAMLE VÆRFT Visit Det Gamle Værft to experience an authentic shipyard hall with its own smithy and copper workshop for young and old alike . You can try creating cool, hand-knotted key-rings decorated with beads and make attractive name plates in copper . For opening hours, see page 48 .
PLAYGROUNDS Ærø has a wide variety of fun playgrounds for children of all ages . For an overview, see page 46 .

GO FOR A WALK AND PAT PIGS, COWS, SHEEP AND HORSES When you take a walk on Ærø, it is more than likely that you will encounter grazing cows, sheep and horses, as well as chickens scratching the soil and ducks swimming serenely on the local ponds . Stop and pat the animals if they will let you, and have a chat about life on Ærø .
