Spring in Bloom With spring in bloom so is a new look for Shadow Ridge.

Welcome to the new newsletter format for Shadow Ridge! One of our neighbors has graciously agreed to design and publish this newsletter for us, including an “online” version. He will also be working to get our website and other technical issues up to date. Look for a more interactive, up-to-date and informative way to keep up with the neighborhood we call HOME. This is your invoice for your 2016 Homeowners’ Association dues. Along with elections of our officers, who are now “on duty” for two-year terms, it was voted that our dues are now $40. With our beautiful front entrance representing Shadow Ridge, $40 is still a deal when it comes to HOA dues.

If you would like to see us do more with your money, such as potentially maintaining the grass/trees along the main street that weaves throughout our subdivision, or another project that you feel would be beneficial, please take a minute and pay your dues. Well above 50% of our residents fail to pay their annual dues, which is unfair to those who are good neighbors. See our treasurer’s report online to find out how your $$ are spent!

sale is April 16 . We are probably looking at the first or second Sunday in June for our hotdog lunch at the front entrance, which will serve as our SRHA general meeting, as well. Come and meet your neighbors!

If you know of someone who would care to serve on our SRHA board, we can always use your help and input. We are still looking for someone consistent and affordable to manage our front entrance so that Karissa Hobbs can finally retire!

7 Tips for a Successful Garage Sale Clean out your closets and make a little extra money with these easy garage-sale strategies.

Instead of giving away or throwing away miscellaneous items this season, why not channel your child’s inner entrepreneur and throw a garage sale?

Kids love garage sales, and they’re a great way to make some extra cash, get outside and free up some space in your house, too.

1. Place Your Ad Here

Have your kid help you write an ad for your local newspaper and put signs up around town. Less is more when it comes to effective advertising, so skip the glitter (unless your kid feels really strongly about it) and make signs using bold markers with your address, the date and time of the sale and an arrow pointing in the right direction.

2. Enlist Some Helpers

Have your kid ask a friend to chip in for the cause, both by putting her stuff up for sale, too, and volunteering to help the day of. Not only will this double the selection of items for sale, you’ll have an extra pair of hands to help. In the days leading up to the sale, look over and clean all the items. There’s nothing worse than selling a pair of jeans for $3 and remembering there was a $20 bill in the back pocket.

NEIGBORHOOD FINANCES

Shadow Ridge has 343 households. We received dues from 130 in 2014 and 147 in 2015. That is approximately 38% and 43%, respectively. If we receive dues from every household, we would be able to do the following: •

Hire a company to handle all responsibilities regarding the upkeep of the front entrance year-round.

• Maintain the trees along the main thoroughfare on a regular basis.

• Mow the grass along both sides of the main thoroughfare to maintain uniformity.

• Expand and/or diversify neighborhood events.
