Skin Collection Beauty in deformation
I have developed my concept for 'second skin' by combining seemingly unrelated inspirations for micro-structures and full-size forms. On micro scale, the structures of my designs were inspired by biological forms we can often see - but hardly ever notice - in common places around us. On macro scale, the forms of the artefacts were influenced by medieval suits of armour - which we would definitely notice if they were ever to be seen on the streets! The final result of my work owes much to the latest technology - 3D-scanning and 3D-printing - but my initial inspiration arrived, fittingly enough, at an ancient archaeological site. I have been always inspired by geometrical forms I could see around me or discover in my research. Architecture has been a particularly important reference point, and one of my previous project was influenced by Gaudi's ideas, particularly as expressed in Sagrada Famila. Therefore, I was looking §forward to more inspiration before my trip to Greece in November last year and I was not to be disappointed. However, I did not anticipate that what would enthuse me among the ancient ruins of the Knossos palace in Crete would not be of man-made creation at all! Of all things to be seen between Athens and Heraklion, my new idea was ignited when I saw lichen and mold outgrowths on eroded stones that used to be fundaments of king Minos's palace.

Multi-finger ring, parametric design
(Source: Pinterest. Image by Unknown)
The multi-finger ring is the first project that I developed as a parametric design intern in Uformit. The level of customization offered by Symvol is endless but compromises need to be made in order to make it proficient and easy to use. I narrowed down the parameters to 3: shape, number of ring and number of arms. The costumer can change the perimeter length of the ring, choose to have an up to 3-finger ring, and pick from 3 different ring shapes. Also, all 4 arms can be made longer or shorter. The design style is minimalistic with sharp edges and clean, thin surfaces in Silver or transparent resin.

Polyamide and silver bracelets
In collaboration with Stilnest I proposed to develop pieces that combine the 2 materials that they have available at present: silver and black polyamide. The idea comes from inlay handwork and the way that different materials are put together. The 2 bracelets are inspired by a trip to Atacama desert and are attempting to capture the look of dry soil, salt flats and cliffs.
