Advice for the Sixth Form
You should regard the Sixth Form as an opportunity to broaden your academic interests and deepen your intellectual insticts; with fewer subjects, you are expected to become a specialist in the areas of study that you have chosen. This is an exciting opportunity to really focus on what you are good at, to think, to explore, and to grow. Do not stand at the side watching; get involved and be busy.
Five things you should try to be:
• Curious • Ambitious • Conscientious • Creative • Responsible • Collaborative
Five things you should try to do:
• Learn Independently – don’t wait to be told what to do • Seek and act on advice – don’t be held back by your own self-regard • Collaborate – work with your friends – listen – talk • Reflect – be aware of the world beyond the College gates and look for opportunities to improve • Set targets – good universities are highly competitive – you will need the best grades possible
Know that you have outstanding support available across the College community, from your beaks, your tutors, your HMs and your peers; make sure that you use each of them to your advantage.
