Marlborough College nurtures every level of musical talent through inspired coaching within a dynamic and energetic environment. Access to a diverse range of solo, chamber, ensemble, band, choral and orchestral mediums provide invaluable experience to perform. We regularly gain excellent academic results for both GCSE Music, A-level Music and Music Technology. A high percentage of pupils go on to study Music at conservatoire or university, and we celebrate Oxbridge entrance success and choral scholarship awards most years.
Scholarships & Bursaries Marlborough offers an exceptional experience for music scholars. They benefit from three, free instrumental music lessons each week and are mentored by the Artistic Director, world-renowned viola player Philip Dukes FSGM, HonARAM, who is also Associate Artistic Director of the Savannah Music Festival in the USA. Specialist, tailored programmes are available for those wishing to study Music at conservatoire or university.

Unique to Marlborough is our professional orchestra-in-partnership programme with London’s brilliant Southbank Sinfonia who visit annually to deliver workshops, one-to-one lessons and to perform with us in a stunning orchestral gala concert. We also offer termly masterclasses and lessons by eminent visiting consultants from leading conservatoires and orchestras worldwide including the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Our renowned professional concert series featuring world-class musicians in Marlborough (MCCS), recently featured artists such as Sheku Kanneh-Mason, BBC Big Band and the Band of the Grenadier Guards. Facilities State-of-the-art performance and teaching facilities include our spectacular ÂŁ6.5m refurbished Memorial Hall, a venue that has welcomed the BBC National Orchestra of Wales for broadcasts and recordings for BBC Radio 3. Our magnificent Chapel is host to choral concerts and the Ellis Theatre and Goodison Hall provide additional concert and informal recital spaces.
