A TOUCH OF COLOR Color is sold by the column inch and is determined by multiplying the size of the advertisement in column inches by the color cost. That cost is then added to the cost of the advertisement space. A typical 1/2 page local advertisement (40 CI) is $320.00 for the space, and $140.00 for the color to equal $460.00, total. According to the Newspaper Association of America** color advertisements are 33% more noticeable than black and white advertisements and 18% more likely to drive readers to look for more information. *ReadesResearch, “Black and White Ads Struggle in a Colorful World. http://www. readexresearch.com/ad-effectiveness-color-2012/ **NAA is a trade association representing approximately 2,000 newspapers in the USA and Canada. www.naa.org
ONE SPOT COLOR
FULL COLOR
One spot color is the combined use of one predefined ink and black. The two colors can be used as a duotone or as a predefined monotone, as seen above. With either result, and for a minimal cost, your advertisement will pop in a sea of gray scale imagery..
Full color process printing is the art of combining four inks (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) to create colorful graphics, as seen above. Benefits of using full color in an advertisement includes measurable visibility, elevated brand recognition and a 33%* higher recall over black and white advertisements.
