SALISBURY Situation: it is located in a valley in the south of England. The river Avon fows across the city.

Population: it has about 50.000 inhabitants (like Manacor) History: it is a very old settlement. People have lived here since the Neolithic period. It became a hill fort in the Iron Age. Then, the Romans came and later the Normans. Current city was established in 1220. Sightseeing: 1. The Cathedral. It was built between 1075 and 1092. It contains the four copies of the old English constitution The Magna Carta and the oldest clock from 1386. 2. South Wiltshire Museum. In the King's House. There are archaeological pieces from Stonehenge and other sites. There is also a costume gallery where children can dress up as people in the past. 3. Queen Elizabeth Gardens. They are very popular. In the summer people swim in the river. 4. Salisbury Market: On Tuesdays and Saturdays you can visit this very old market (1227) and buy food and clothes. 5. Stonehenge. A prehistoric stone circle about 13 km from the city.
