WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND
Following its smash hit tour of the United States, a hugely successful West End season at London’s Palace Theatre, and, of course, the original 2001 UK tour which smashed box-office records across the country, Bill Kenwright’s critically acclaimed production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman’s Whistle Down the Wind is set to thrill audiences once again. An extraordinary and uplifting tale about the transforming power of love, Whistle Down the Wind is based on the beloved sixties film starring Hayley Mills, and features numerous multi-award-winning songs, including Boyzone’s international hit No Matter What (which topped the UK charts for 6 weeks). Truly inspiring, Whistle Down the Wind shows how powerful love can be when the innocence of childhood collides with the cynicism of the adult world.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
Sunrise, Sunset, swiftly flow the years...
Tevye is a man who finds himself besieged by life; yet a wife who would wear his trousers, five wayward daughters, a contrary horse and a severe lack of money cannot quite bring him down. It is true that he dreams ‘If I Were A Rich Man’, but generally his faith is in ‘Tradition’ and fervently hopes that a certain ‘Matchmaker, Matchmaker’ will indeed see his three elder daughters off his hands and his roubles. Life stretches before him and his family like a well-known path. However, time and place are against them: Russia in 1905 does not augur well for the Jews. With the Pogroms now rife, things are changing for the worse around Tevye’s little village, and not too many of those sunrises and sunsets will pass before his family becomes fragmented, and is forced to flee all that they hold dear, to face an uncertain future.

Teaming up with the dazzingly demented Mrs Lovett, a struggling baker of meat pies, the "Demon Barber of Fleet Street" cooks up a macabre revenge scheme that fulfils both their needs! Black comedy, tragedy, romance and madness intersect brilliantly in this musical masterwork by Stephen Sondheim. The year is 2010 – but not for long. Because, with the help of Professor Doc Broon, teenager Marty Macduff is about to be blasted back to 1983. As anyone with time-travelling experience knows, you must be very careful. It only takes one small accident in the past to change everything about the future. What would happen to Marty if his parents never fell in love? How would Aberdeen be changed if a secret rowie recipe fell into the wrong hands? And what about Aberdeen’s victory in Gothenburg? Surely nothing could affect that? Or could it? Only time will tell...

Thursday 29 April & Saturday 1 May
LA BOHÈME Giacomo Puccini Sung in Italian with English Supertitles. This iconic opera tells the story of the love affair between Mimì and the struggling writer Rodolfo. Tony award-winning director Stewart Laing’s production presents a traditional tale in a contemporary context – the exciting modern art scene of 21st-century New York. When Rodolfo sees Mimì for the first time, they fall hopelessly in love – but the course of true love rarely runs smoothly. Encompassing dramatic passion and the pain of being young, poor and in love, Puccini’s whirling melodic score moves from revelry to romance as it carries the story toward its tragic conclusion. Nadine Livingston, one of Scottish Opera’s emerging artists, sings Musetta. Scottish Opera Music Director Francesco Corti conducts.

WHEN HARRY MET SALLY
When Harry Met Sally is the delightful romantic comedy, adapted for the stage from one of the best romantic comedy films of all time, starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. The first time they met they hated each other. The second time they met, he didn’t remember her and she hated him. The third time they met, they became friends and they were friends for a long time. Then they weren’t. Then they fell in love - and it only took twelve years and three months. Featuring a soundtrack from jazz sensation Jamie Cullum and his brother Ben, When Harry Met Sally is the ultimate in feel-good theatre! ‘When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible’

PETER PAN
by JM Barrie. In a new version by David Greig.
All children, except one, grow up.
Peter Pan is a coproduction between the National Theatre of Scotland and barbicanbite10
Tuesday 15 – Saturday 19 June
PETER PAN
by JM Barrie. In a new version by David Greig. The National Theatre of Scotland brings Peter Pan home in 2010, presenting a brand new version, especially for families, of one of the most influential and magical stories ever told by a Scottish writer, in what will be the 150th anniversary of the birth of JM Barrie. Directed by the National Theatre of Scotland’s own Olivier Award-winning John Tiffany and written by multi award-winning Scottish playwright David Greig (Midsummer, Yellow Moon) this Peter Pan reimagines the Darling family in Victorian Edinburgh. Peter’s impish arrival into the lives of Wendy, John and Michael is the beginning of a thrilling, deliciously naughty, eerie escapade. There’s a gang of Lost Boys, a horde of pirates and, of course, one of the wickedest villains of all time. Razor-sharp sword fights, virtuoso flying sequences, acrobats, fire-eaters, ticking crocodiles and one great big hook will ensure the whole family is drawn into this distinctly Caledonian other-worldly adventure. Peter Pan is ideal for the young at heart aged 5 & over.

DAVE GORMAN
SIT DOWN, PEDAL, PEDAL, STOP AND STAND UP. In 2009, Dave Gorman set off on a unique national tour. The intention: to cycle over 1500 miles across Britain in 33 days… with a gig each night. But demand for the show has been so high that he’s decided to keep performing it… but this time without cycling from venue to venue. He’s obviously getting lazy. So now only the last bit of the title makes sense. But look at it from his point of view. Same show, fewer blisters. What would you do?
