Masterclass Programme 4pp:Layout 1 13/12/2012 10:54 Page 1
Saturday 18 May, 10am-5pm The Lemon Tree Studio This day long adventure will offer artists the opportunity to reflect on their practise by becoming immersed in discussion, debate and the creation of new ideas. The artist who chooses to work within a community or educational context must by highly responsible and considerate to the world around them. The creation of new work occurs through collaboration with individuals and communities that have potentially been isolated from artistic or creative processes. How then, as artists, do we continuously push boundaries to ensure our work is contemporary and relevant to the people we collaborate with? This workshop will explore issues connected to: the role of the artist within community settings, being innovative through collaboration, risk taking with groups, issues of ownership, encouraging leadership within projects, and where ideas come from. Paul is a freelance artist and has over 15 years experience of working in the cultural sector as a theatre director, project manager, lecturer, fundraiser and arts practitioner. Paul studied acting and performance at Motherwell College before completing a BA (Hons) in Community Arts at Strathclyde University. His passion is to instigate innovative creative projects that work in partnership with inspirational artists and inspiring communities.
