New productions… We are delighted to announce that APA will be producing a large scale production of Robin Jenkins' novel The Cone Gatherers in Autumn this year, after opening at His Majesty’s Theatre it will then go on a tour to Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Inverness. Creative Learning opportunities will be running alongside the production and will be announced over the next few months.

After eight successful years at the helm of APA our Chief Executive, Duncan Hendry will be leaving his post to take up a similar post for Edinburgh’s Festival City Theatres Trust in March 2012. We wish him all the luck with this new challenge.

There will be several new features such as a blog, ‘Just Announced’ boxes displaying all our new shows, gallery and a streamlined Creative Learning section. Insight: Making Theatre APA in partnership with Aberdeen Arts Education team will be working with Kittybrewster and Hanover Street Primary Schools as part of our pilot Insight: Making Theatre school residency. The School Residency Programme, sponsored by Aberdeen Harbour Board supporters of APA’s Creative Learning department, aims to create new opportunities for the pupils to develop a relationship with The Lemon Tree that increases their knowledge and understanding of theatre. Pupils from the two schools will work with APA’s Creative Learning team and a leading Scottish theatre company, and the project will culminate for two classes with the chance to stage their own productions at The Lemon Tree Studio.

Free Teacher CPD session – Tuesday 14 Feb • 5pm-7pm HMT Studio Suitable for both primary and secondary school teachers, the session focuses on Rambert’s new piece Seven for a secret. Starting with a warm-up and technique class, teachers will have the opportunity to take ideas and exercises to use in their own classes, with further exploration on how to adapt for different ages and abilities.
Free Youth Dance Repertoire Workshop 14–16 years - Thursday 17 Feb • 5pm–7pm HMT Studio For young people aged 14–18, this workshop will focus on a piece of repertoire from Rambert’s Seven for a Secret…tour. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people with an interest in dance to develop skills, be creative and gain a deeper understanding of Rambert’s work. An Inspector Calls - Page to Stage Aimed at students, the Page to Stage event looks at the production and rehearsal process addressing particular craft, thematic and character developments. It provides an opportunity for schools to gain insights into the production to complement their own curriculum studies. Length: One hour led by a member of the company. Time: Thursday 1st March 11.30am-12.30pm Location: HMT Main Stage Cost: £3 per student (show ticket-holders only, school price for show £8.50 with one free in every 10). Deep within the South African underground caves, a group of young friends unleash the nightmarish stories of their ancestors. Craig Higginson's play draws on Greek Tragedy and twenty-first century relationships.

World Voice Day Members of APA Young Person’s Company, Youth Theatre, Adult Drama and Singing classes will celebrate voice and communication with a performance of songs, scripts and signing. World Voice Day is celebrated annually on 16th April. The idea began in Brazil and then spread to the USA and across the world. The idea is to celebrate healthy voices and highlight the importance of voice at work and in society.
A writer in a totalitarian state is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a number of child-murders that are happening in his town. Content is yet to be confirmed but the sessions will be led by Judith Stephen focusing on developing performance skills through exploring a range of drama techniques.
