• Black faux leather on middle panel, front and back bust strips and shoulder straps • Brown suede on front and back side panels • Cream faux suede on front and back side panels • Cognac faux suede on front side middle panels

• Draft front and back style lines for contrast panels. Convert original block darts into seams. Drop armholes by 2cm. Mark notches

Toile #1 • Convert front darts into seams and draft contrast panels style lines. Ignore back darts (shoulder dart is taken off the shoulder seam) • Extend CF, trace off break line, mark break point and develop rever collar shape • Draft front and back facings • Mark contrast panels on sleeve patterns

CONSIDERATIONS

BACK

• Fit is slightly too loose on the front. Re-draft front panels style lines and add suppression by slightly taking in side seams

Fitted jacket blocks with two piece sleeves

• Consider shortening the jacket of about 10-12cm • Re-draft the collar wider by extending break line and point on pattern draft SLEEVE

• Consider wether the collar would be cut in self or contrast fabric. Redraft front and back facings accorgindly

Pattern Draft - Amendments CONSIDERATIONS • Jacket front seems to be fitting properly and does not need any further amendment • New collar sits well on both front and back of the jacket • The back seems to be too wide, as original block darts have been ignored on the first draft. Convert them into seams running on both sides of the CB, referring to pins on toile. The CB will be formed by a single panel with no CB seam. Consider adding contrast panels on the back • Consider adding pockets underneath front side contrast panels • Armholes are slightly too tight. Redraft underarm curve on both front and back patterns and edit sleeve crown accordingly • Constrast panels on the sleeves don’t need to be edited. However the sleeve hem needs to be extended by 4cm • Shorten jacket by approximately 12 cm all around. Get rid of back vent

Align patterns at waist seam, trace off front and back bust first, then slide trousers block 2.5cm down before tracing them off. This allows extra room across the hips when bending or sitting • • Mark zip notch on CB, reshape outer and under leg seams and mark trousers lenght • • Draft style lines on front and back side panels. Use original darts as seams. Mark side cut out panels on draft • • Use original darts on trousers. Draft back waistbands by converting dart into a seam

to feature a back opening. Measure cut out size and transfer measurements to pattern draft

Consider wether to have • Add 5 extra cm to turn hem on the inside and connect to lining just one hook and eye close to the neck point along the CF, on both sleeves and bottom garment or a variety of them to allow the coat to close entirely. Ignore back shoulder dart by taking it off the shoulder seam • Draft front and back yoke style lines • Close darts on front and back skirt blocks to add flare

• Faux leather embellished fabric on front and back yokes • Faux leather on front and back middle panels, front and back skirt patterns and top right eyelets panel • Nubuk suede on top left side panel

• Measure top and skirt waist seam to make sure they match • Draft top right and left asymmetrical panels. Mark CF on both

Consider how the embellishments will be affecting garment construction and assembly • Front and back skirt panels to be cut in plain faux leather • Top front left panel to be cut in black suede • Top front right panel with eyelets detail to be cut in plain faux leather FINISHINGS • Front and back top and skirt panels will be fully lined in black polyester satin. No facing will be inserted. Lining patterns follow main style lines and bag out to the a 4cm pin hem • Top front left panel is left raw edge • Top front right panel is fully lined and bagged out in black satin polyester

Toile #1 FRONT VIEW • Extend side fur panels towards the CF by 1.5 cm on each side of the garment. Reduce middle panels accordingly on pattern draft • Collar is too tight. CF does not match pattern draft. Right rever is supposed to close on left bust seam, where an open ended zip will be inserted to allow fitting. Re-draft collar on original pattern draft to reduce tightness along the neck and allow the jacket to close. Reposition CF on pattern draft • Consider extending lapels upper edge to reach bust seams • Re-draft front facings according to new patterns. Front facings follow front patterns style lines

Toile #1

BACK VIEW AND SLEEVES • The back of the jacket shows a slightly relaxed feeling • Consider taking in side seams by a couple of centimetres to add extra shape • Jacket may be slightly longer. Consider adding a few extra cm to the hem • Armholes are too tight. Drop by 2 cm and reshape sleeves accordingly • Sleeves are too short. Add 5 extra cm to sleeves hem

Toile #2

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS • New collar shape is fine. Lapel edges match bust seams and give the right shape to the garment • Insert zip and mark zip notch on final patterns • Armhole is still slightly too tight. Drop by 2 extra cm and edit sleeves accordingly

GARMENT FINISHINGS • Draft lining from final set of patterns. Use original darts on front and back lining patterns. Add a 2cm pleat on the CB to allow extra room and facilitate fitting. Sleeve lining follow original two piece sleeve panels • Add 5 cm extra cm to the hem, to allow an inside turn that will connect to the lining

CONSIDERATIONS • Fit is wrong. Trousers seem to be too tight and would not close at the CB. Check block patterns and develop a new draft • Consider wether to increase wastband’s width or remove it from the garment entirely • Retoile using fur for top right asymmetrical panel. Consider extending/reshaping the panel’s right side according to side seam. Debate wether to keep panel’s side strip and possible finishing options • Top right panel needs to be taken in by a centimetre at CF, to avoid creases • Consider how to finish the garment, wether to overlock seams and double turn hem or develop facings and lining patterns

Toile #2 FINAL AMENDMENTS • Front and back waistbands have been extended to reach 4.5 cm width • Top right asymmetrical fur panel has been reshaped to cover the shorts hem and side seam entirely. Side strip is no longer a design feature • Garment fit is good, an invisible zip runs 20 cm down the CB • Trousers patterns and top left asymmetrical panel will be fully lined, while the fur panel will be left raw edge. Add 3 cm extra to the hem to turn and connect to the lining • Due to the nature of suede, front and back facings will be cut in lining fabric or a smoother contrast fabric
