Hello! My name is Martina Bazzoni, I’m an interior designer from Italy currently based in London. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Regent’s University London, from which I have graduated with first class honours. I have a great passion for both architecture and interior design, disciplines that allow me to do what i love: improve people’s lives through the space they use and inhabit. For the past two years I have gained experience as an Interior Designer by working in design and architecture studios with a focus on retail and workplace design, and as a graphic designer by working freelance. I love the path I have chosen and I am constantly looking for new challenges to tackle and new opportunities to create! In my free time I enjoy photography, traveling and producing illustrations, along with cinema, visiting exhibitions and museums and participating in architecture competitions.

THE GLITCH Academic / Revised 2019/2020 Holborn Studios, London, UK Architecture / Interior The Glitch, a re-visitation of my final BA project, takes inspiration from my passion for animation, experimental architecture, the cyberpunk movement, and specifically the 1988 movie “Akira”. The word “glitch” was chosen as the concept and title for the project, with its main interpretation being “an interruption of the perceived norm”. The project’s aim is to create a space that plays with the user’s imagination and has the ability to transform itself, through the exhibition space, and bring the fantasy of animated worlds to life. The spaces in the building allow for animated movies to be restored and showcased in the cinema, with the exhibition space that allows for a more in depth information to be presented, along with its original art and props. The building is open to the public with a cafe, a cinema and a co-working space.

R.U.L. SHOW Academic Competition / Exhibition 2018 Downstairs at the Deparment Store in Brixton, London, UK
The project was developed during an academic competition, and selected as the final design to be built. The competition requested the participants to create an exhibition structure that included both a horizontal and a vertical surface for the graduating interior design students, but that could be reused as a student desk in the future. The design allows for easy assembly and disassembly of the unit as needed, and was inspired by the location itself, an industrial event space with exposed paint and copper pipes all around.

RE: CONNECT Competition 2020 Hong Kong Architecture Re:Connect an entry for the competition “Abode”, which required participants to design a residential tower, or cluster of towers, that revolved around the inclusion of biophilic elements. The building complex is made up by three towers of different heights, that all maximise the outdoor space by including balconies in every apartment, with a communal garden in each floor, as well as three communal food gardens on each rooftop, and two outdoor garden and recreational spaces on the platforms that connect the buildings together. The inclusion of the food gardens was pushed by the need for more local and fresh product in the more urbanised areas of Hong Kong, as majority of the produce is imported from overseas. This way, the residents will have the opportunity not only to have more green areas around them, but also to learn how to grow food for themselves.
