For some, planning a wedding might will turn to be a one-off opportunity to show the couple’s imagination and creative minds. Some couple’s will go a long way to plan their wedding to the minor details without going out of budget, while for others the preparations end up to really exhaust them to a point that at the end they will let go,loosing the chance to achieve a unique wedding. Some couple’s rely on what is suggested to them by family members, friends and other untrained acquaintances, robbing the couple from a wonderful experience of a life time. Wedding preparations might look a hard task in the beginning, but as times goes by, the couple will adopt themselves. Doing a wedding in Malta, one needs to really understand what the local couple’s want, their preparations, and the style of album or video they are looking for. Doing a wedding overseas, one has to follow a different criteria. The first thing is that the photographer must prepare himself by understanding the cultural background of country were the wedding is going to take place. I was invited to do a wedding in Italy, so the first thing to do was to do a lot of research on how the Italians look at the wedding. Lucky for me, I have a good number of contacts and have been visiting the country for quite some years, so this makes my research less complicated. The next step is to have chat with the couple to feel what they actually wanted. Luckily, they fully trusted me and my end result, but that does not guarantee a successful result by itself. The more I chatted with them during previous visits, the more I learned what she likes, information about their preparations and other small details that reflected their wedding style. Thanks to the frequent visits, I was able to hit the nail straight on, by coming up with a wedding book showing the true essence of what I felt in their wedding, while keeping it simple and elegant in a very natural way. Two comments : ‘As soon as I saw that bridal shop I knew that they will be doing my wedding dress’ and ‘ I wanted to have a church full of flowers’, coming out of the bride did helped me to design a new concept of album. I had to come up with something not only original and innovative but appealing while maintain their wedding style. Keeping simplicity and uniqueness in mind helped me to select the right images to include in their wedding book. Keeping a good report with all of them eased my work by capturing incredible images both in reportage or candid shots but also naturally looking posed images, turned an outstanding wedding book.
