I must acknowledge that I owe this significant moment to our awesome God, who never ceases to bless those who seek Him. With deep gratitude, I dedicate this issue entirely to Him.
As a practicing Christian and father of two beautiful children, I make it a point not to allow anything in my magazines that I wouldn’t want my own children to see at home. About thE “LA CATRINA” Cover
Each year, the Miss Universe Organization unveils a cover that celebrates the unique culture of the host country. This year, Mexico took center stage with a stunning feature of the departing Miss Universe, Sheynnis Palacios, who was photographed in an authentic portrayal of “La Catrina”.
La Catrina is an iconic figure in Mexican culture, particularly associated with the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos). She is a skeletal female figure, often depicted wearing an elegant hat and elaborate clothing, symbolizing the blending of indigenous and European traditions. Created by Mexican illustrator José Guadalupe Posada in the early 20th century and popularized by artist Diego Rivera, La Catrina represents a satirical reminder that social status and wealth are meaningless in death, highlighting themes of equality and the acceptance of mortality. AATHE HISTORY AND EVOLUTION From Frontier Towns to Global Metropolis
s the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex stands tall today, it symbolizes the culmination of centuries of history, culture, and ambition. From its origins as a rugged outpost on the Texas frontier to its rise as a global hub of commerce and luxury, the transformation of Dallas-Fort Worth into one of the nation’s most affluent and dynamic regions is remarkable.
In this special editorial for the inaugural edition of LUXCIOR Magazine, we delve into the rich tapestry of the region’s evolution, uncovering the forces that shaped it into the vibrant metroplex it is today. We will explore its history, cultural contributions, wealth, and lifestyle, as well as the architecture, arts, and spirit that continue to define Dallas-Fort Worth.
A Historic Foundation
In the mid-19th century, both Dallas and Fort Worth were mere dots n the map of the Texas frontier.
Dallas was founded in 1841 by John Neely Bryan, a Tennesseeborn trader who saw potential in the Trinity River’s location as a crossroads for commerce. Bryan set up a trading post near what is now Dealey Plaza, and soon after, settlers were drawn to the area due to its strategic position along the river and various trade routes. By 1845, the Republic of Texas was annexed by the United States, and Dallas began its slow transformation from an isolated settlement into a growing town.
By the 1850s, the town had established its first businesses, schools, and churches. Dallas was officially incorporated as a city in 1856. Its location, however, was still remote compared to more established towns in Texas like Houston and San Antonio. But that isolation would change with the coming of the railroads, which would mark the true beginning of Dallas’ rise to prominence.
Fort Worth was founded by Major Ripley Arnold of the U.S. Army in 1849. He established a military outpost on the banks of the Trinity River, naming it “Camp Worth” in honor of General William Jenkins Worth, a hero of the Mexican-American War. The camp was later renamed Fort Worth, and it became the foundation of the city that would grow around it.
These twin cities grew in parallel, each carving out a unique identity. By the late 1800s, the arrival of the railroad transformed both cities. Dallas became a hub for commerce and industry, while Fort Worth, located on the Chisholm Trail, earned the moniker “Cowtown” as a key stop for north cattle drives. Despite their rugged beginnings, the seeds of the metroplex’s future prosperity were already sown.
DALLAS A City of Ambition and Vision
If Fort Worth is a nod to Texas’ past, Dallas is a symbol of its future. With a skyline that features the soaring Reunion Tower and the sculptural Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, Dallas is a city that has always embraced growth and innovation. The downtown Arts District is a cultural oasis, home to the Dallas Museum of Art, the Winspear Opera House, and the Nasher Sculpture Center, all of which contribute to making the area one of the largest urban arts districts in the country.
Dallas is also a music lover’s paradise. From the blues and jazz sounds that defined Deep Ellum in the early 20th century to the modern-day symphonies at the Meyerson Symphony Center, the city’s musical heritage is as diverse as it is rich. It is a city where cultural vibrancy and entrepreneurial spirit collide, creating an energy that is unique to Dallas.
FORT WORTH Preserving Heritage While Embracing the Modern
Fort Worth retains a deep connection to its past, but it’s also a city looking forward. The Fort Worth Stockyards remains a living testament to the city’s cowboy roots, with daily cattle drives and preserved Western architecture that transports visitors back in time. Yet, just miles away, Fort Worth’s Cultural District is a beacon of modernity, home to world-class museums like the Kimbell Art Museum, designed by the legendary Louis Kahn, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, a stunning example of contemporary architecture by Tadao Ando.
These institutions reflect Fort Worth’s commitment to arts and culture, making the city a destination for the world’s most discerning collectors and enthusiasts. Additionally, Sundance Square, with its vibrant mix of dining, shopping, and entertainment, reflects the city’s ability to seamlessly blend history with modern urban living.
DFW METROPLEX Booming Economy
The Dallas-Fort Worth economy is one of the most robust and diverse in the United States, consistently ranking among the nation’s strongest metropolitan economies. With a population exceeding 7 million with a growth rate of 1.25% over 2023, the DFW metroplex serves as a critical hub for finance, technology, energy, healthcare, and transportation. Its central location, excellent infrastructure, and proximity to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport make it a key logistical and business gateway, both nationally and internationally.
Historically, the region’s economy was heavily influenced by oil and gas, with Dallas emerging as a financial center for the Texas oil industry in the early 20th century. Major energy corporations such as ExxonMobil and HollyFrontier still have a significant presence, but the DFW economy has since diversified, reducing its reliance on fossil energy and expanding into other sectors.
Today, DFW is a global business center, ranking 3rd in the nation with 24 Fortune 500 companies, including AT&T, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Sysco, Exxon Mobil, Dell, and Tenet Healthcare, to name a few. The region’s financial sector is booming, with Dallas serving as the headquarters for a wide array of banking and investment firms. The technology sector is another major contributor, with tech giants like Texas Instruments and data centers located throughout the metroplex, as well as growing tech startups drawn to the area’s business-friendly environment and highly skilled workforce.
The healthcare and biotech industries are also major players in the DFW economy. Research institutions, hospitals, and medical technology companies form a vital part of the region’s landscape, with institutions like UT Southwestern Medical Center leading advancements in medicine.
Additionally, DFW’s thriving real estate market reflects the overall economic prosperity, driven by a strong job market, corporate relocations, and population growth. The area’s lifestyle, known for luxury, fine dining, and shopping, supports a booming hospitality and retail sector, further strengthening the local economy.
In recent years, DFW has attracted significant investment in sustainability and innovation, reflecting a forward-looking approach to economic development. Dallas-Fort Worth’s cultural richness is woven from many threads—its history, its people, and its commitment to the arts. Highland Park and University Park stand as symbols of old-world elegance, while Plano, Southlake, and the growing suburbs reflect the region’s everexpanding diversity.
The city’s arts and cultural landscape is defined by world-class institutions such as the Kimbell Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, as well as the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas. In the Fort Worth Cultural District, visitors can explore a range of museums that span classic and contemporary art, while the Dallas Arts District, one of the largest in the country, boasts a dazzling array of galleries, theaters, and performance venues.
Dallas-Fort Worth is also a city of festivals and traditions. DFW International Airport A GLOBAL GATEWAY
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is more than just a transit hub; it’s a symbol of the region’s global reach and economic influence. As one of the busiest airports in the world, DFW connects North Texas to over 250 destinations worldwide, including 67 international nonstop destinations. Opened in 1974, the airport has played a pivotal role in the metroplex’s transformation into a global business center. Today, it is a model of innovation, offering cutting-edge amenities and sustainable practices, and has become the largest carbonneutral airport in the world.
The importance of DFW to the local economy cannot be overstated. Its proximity to both Dallas and Fort Worth has spurred the growth of countless industries, from aviation and logistics to technology and tourism. As the metroplex continues to expand, DFW remains a key driver of economic growth and global connectivity.
SPORTS A Region Defined by Excellence
Few cities in America are as synonymous with sports as Dallas. The Dallas Cowboys, often referred to as “America’s Team,” embody the larger-than-life spirit of the city. AT&T Stadium, with its retractable roof and massive high-definition video boards, is a marvel of modern engineering and architecture. What made this encounter even more meaningful was our shared Argentinian roots and the fact that we are nearly the same age. This common ground allowed us to reflect on the passions of our youth—an enduring love for fast cars and an equally fervent devotion to soccer.
Our conversation unfolded seamlessly, carried by the familiarity of our shared language and accent. This connection added a personal depth to the exchange, making the experience truly special. Here’s what I learned from this remarkable encounter.
Horacio Pagani exudes a deep passion for Italy, a country that embodies culture, artistry, and the enduring legacy of the Rinascimento. Its rich traditions, coupled with its status as the home of automotive legends like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Maserati, provided the perfect foundation for Pagani to launch his own brand—a name now synonymous with extremely meticulous craftsmanship and exclusivity.
Born in Argentina, Horacio’s early inspirations came from the renowned Torino cars of the 1960s—a very well-known brand for Argentinians, and the electrifying world of prototype racing. Oreste Berta, a revered engineer who prepared Torino race cars for Renault’s official team, was a hero to the young Horacio. This fascination shaped his dreams and ignited his lifelong passion for automobiles. Today, a Torino 380W holds a special place in his private collection, a nod to the memories that started it all.
Despite his global acclaim, Horacio remains deeply rooted in his Argentine heritage. He returns to his homeland at least twice a year, reconnecting with family and childhood friends who have accompanied him through his journey.
Horacio reflected on the remarkable trajectory of his brand, which began with the debut of the Zonda 25 years ago. The Zonda, a marvel of its time, was unlike anything the world had seen. Priced significantly higher than its contemporaries, it appealed to a clientele of sophisticated collectors aged 50 and above. Developing this revolutionary car required immense personal sacrifice; Horacio had limited financial resources and had to rely on his determination and ingenuity to bring the Zonda to life. Over time, the Zonda proved to be not only a masterpiece but also a sound investment, with its value increasing 15 to 20 times its original price.
In 2011, Pagani unveiled the Huayra, a model that introduced groundbreaking technology and was tailored for the U.S. market. With features like active aerodynamics and advanced suspension systems, the Huayra marked a significant evolution from the Zonda. Eleven years later, in 2022, Pagani presented the Utopia—a car that Horacio describes as a true reflection of his clients’ desires. Through careful listening and a keen understanding of their preferences, he created a 12-cylinder manual car that eschewed trends like hybrid and electric engines. Every detail of the Utopia was meticulously crafted, making it a car of unparalleled individuality. Such was its success that all units were sold a year before its official launch, a phenomenon repeated with the Utopia Roadster, which was entirely pre-sold before its debut four months ago— in August.
What stands out most about Horacio is his unique perspective on success. For him, selling out a model before launch is not the pinnacle of achievement. True success lies in creating cars that continue to perform years after their release and bring lasting satisfaction to their owners. This philosophy underpins the culture of Pagani Automobili, where the guiding principle—displayed prominently throughout the factory—is that “the customer is our true employer.” This ethos reflects Horacio’s belief that the company exists to serve its clients, who ultimately sustain every aspect of the business.
Horacio’s approach is also characterized by humility. He does not seek to satisfy his own ego but rather focuses on fulfilling the aspirations of his customers.

The United States has long been a key market for Pagani, historically accounting for about one-third of the company’s production. With the Huayra, that number rose to 40%, yet demand in the U.S. remains three to four times greater than the number of cars available. This imbalance only heightens the allure of the Pagani name.
When discussing sustainability, Horacio revealed that his team began exploring the concept of an electric Pagani seven years ago. Yet, after extensive research, they found that not a single Pagani owner expressed interest in an electric
option. While electric vehicles have their place, particularly in urban environments, Horacio believes decisions about the future of automotive technology should be guided by scientists, engineers, and universities, not politics. He envisions a future where innovation in hybrid, synthetic fuel, and other propulsion methods is driven by practical research rather than political agendas.
The artisanal nature of Pagani Automobili sets it apart. Located in Italy’s Motor Valley, Modena—a region home to Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Maserati— Pagani operates on a boutique scale. Each car is crafted and assembled with unparalleled attention to detail, ensuring that no two are alike. Every model is a collaboration between the brand and each individual client, resulting in a car that reflects the owner’s unique personality.
Pagani’s dedication to innovation extends to the materials used in its cars. The company works with over 40 advanced composite materials, including carbon fiber, Carbo-Titanium HP62 G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62, producing these components entirely in-house. Collaborations with companies like Pirelli and Bosch have further enhanced performance. The recent introduction of Pirelli’s Cyber Tire, for example, integrates sensors that communicate with the car’s computer to optimize driving dynamics. Artificial intelligence has also streamlined testing processes, dramatically reducing the time needed to perfect the new tire compounds of the Utopia.
Pagani Automobili remains a family affair, with Horacio’s sons, Leonardo and Christopher, playing central roles. Leonardo oversees the company’s “Modena

On October 16, 2024, the museum began its trial opening, offering visitors access to select exhibits and its main galleries—a glimpse into what promises to be one of the world’s most significant cultural landmarks.
Spanning an impressive 500,000 square meters, GEM is the largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization. Its architectural design draws inspiration from the ancient pyramids, featuring a striking glass facade at its grand entrance, a central atrium, and panoramic views of the Giza Pyramids. The space seamlessly blends modernity with Egypt’s storied past, setting the stage for a oneof-a-kind cultural experience.
Within its vast halls, the museum houses over 100,000 artifacts, offering a comprehensive journey through Egypt’s rich and diverse history. Among its treasures are 15,000 artifacts spanning from the beginning of recorded history to the 4th century AD, carefully curated and presented in chronological and thematic galleries. As a jeweller of eyewear, Cartier applies the same procedures as with its jewellery pieces. Its craftsman-like approach places the material at the heart of the creative process. Acetate, a cellulose-based material, is worked at Cartier in the same way as wood, horn or gold.
LACQUER
A delicate craft process, lacquering consists of depositing the lacquer by hand with a brush or a syringe into a recesses hollowed from the metal. Lacquered piece is then over-dried for three hours. Then lacquerer goes on to grind and polish the piece, before diamond-polishing it, until the lacquerer is truly levelled. This jewellery skill is used in the production of the panther head in the ‘Panthere Wild de Cartier’ frame where each of the animal’s spots is crafted from black lacquer made flush with the metal.
CARTIER WOOD
Among the pioneers in the use of wood in eyewear, Cartier began using this material in 1992. Noble, it requires many skilled interventions such as cutting, polishing, machining and finally varnishing, which gives it a shiny appearance and protects the surface. Each temple consists of 12 thin layers of wood glued and pressed together in a process called lamination used by Cartier to maximize the strength of each frame.
HORN
It can measure up to a meter but only a very small part of the horn meets Cartier’s criteria in terms of quality and aesthetics. The construction of thin strips layered crosswise ensures quality, resistance to warping and the stability of each frame.
