s my journey as Miss Universe 2024 comes to an end, I am filled with immense gratitude for the unforgettable experiences and memories I have made. Being part of this incredible adventure has been a privilege beyond words, and I wish each of you, the amazing women competing tonight, an empowering and joyful experience. You are shining examples for young girls everywhere and inspirations to women around the world.
During my reign, I’ve had the remarkable opportunity to meet extraordinary people from various cultures, learning from their unique stories and sharing in the beauty of our differences. It has been an adventure of growth—not just as a woman, but as a human being. I have come to realize that the diversity of our world is our most precious gift, and it is essential to stay true to who we are and where we come from.
As you step onto this stage tonight, remember the purpose that brought you here. Your journey is not just about a title; it’s about inspiring others to shine, to share their stories, and to become the positive change their communities, nations, and the world so deeply need.
Above all, don’t forget to cherish each moment, have fun, and let your inner light shine brightly. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. A New Chapter Unfolds
IIwant to share my heartfelt gratitude for the experiences and memories that have defined my time as Miss Universe 2023. November 18, 2023 will always remain a day etched in my memory—the day my life took a remarkable turn in El Salvador, as I became the 72nd Miss Universe and the first Nicaraguan to hold such an esteemed honor. That day marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey that took me literally around the world.
This accomplishment was not just a personal triumph or a victory for my beloved Nicaragua, but a win for the whole of Central and Latin America. It was a chance to become a global ambassador of purposeful beauty, using this platform to amplify my values, beliefs, and passions—particularly in the areas of mental health, education, and the rights of women and children. I realized very early on that my role was to inspire new generations to dream big and chase their goals, regardless of the obstacles or the countless “no’s” that may come along the way. I embraced this role with immense responsibility, dedication, and passion.
My journey is one of perseverance, like that of many young people across the globe. I worked tirelessly to support my family and secure scholarships throughout my education, which instilled in me a sense of discipline and determination that proved invaluable in navigating this year as Miss Universe.
Throughout my world tour, I visited over 31 countries across North and Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and even Africa. My schedule was filled with meaningful encounters with national leaders, media engagements, cultural events, social initiatives, and collaborations with local designers and artisans showcasing national costumes. Yet, the most important part of my work was spreading a message of hope and resilience.
I cherished each welcome I received at the airports, where people greeted me with music, flags, letters, and overwhelming love that energized me and pushed me to keep going. I relished every traditional dish lovingly presented at the dinner table, and I embraced every new experience as if I were my 10-year-old self—excited, curious, and full of wonder. From riding an elephant in Thailand, exploring a safari in Africa, dancing samba in Brazil, discovering the beauty of Albania, experiencing Mexico for the first time, or ringing in the New Year in New York, I believe I could write an entire book detailing my adventures country by country, sharing each flight and moment.
This year has been a whirlwind of hard work, incredible fatigue, and unforgettable joy. I have learned to balance my professional duties with my personal life, even while being thousands of miles away from my family and loved ones and navigating time zone differences of up to 12 hours. I am profoundly grateful and satisfied, knowing that I fulfilled my mission. In a few years, when I look back, I will applaud the 24-year-old Sheynnis who embarked on the most challenging, spectacular, and extraordinary journey of her young life.
This marks the end of a year filled with transformative experiences and challenges, and I am deeply proud of it all. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey around the world.

Beyond the Crown is a global women’s empowerment initiative promoted by the Miss Universe Organization. This movement aims to unite women from all over the world to create a positive and lasting impact on society. Its mission is to provide participants, and women around the world, with essential skills in leadership, entrepreneurship, personal development, and media communication.
Beyond physical beauty, Miss Universe celebrates the inner beauty of every woman, encouraging their personal growth and ability to inspire others. Beyond the Crown seeks to shape women leaders who, beyond the crown, positively impact their communities and the world. Through training that covers everything from breaking stereotypes to personal growth, this initiative aspires to turn women into agents of change.
On September 9, 2024, the first Beyond the Crown course was launched, available in English and Spanish, specially designed for the candidates selected for the 73rd edition of Miss Universe. The course offers a variety of online learning resources, including video case studies narrated by former titleholders, presentations, workshops, and practical training sessions. This will provide them with tools that, in the future, will prepare them to become coaches for beauty pageant candidates. This training is being developed in collaboration with the Latin American Institute of Educational Communication (ILCE), an intergovernmental international body based in Mexico, created by mandate of UNESCO in 1956.
Participants, continuously evaluated throughout the course, will follow four key modules: breaking stereotypes and promoting gender equality, effective communication and image management, persuasive public speaking, leadership and diplomacy on the global stage, and social entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
As an organization, we reaffirm our commitment to creating spaces where women can fully develop, valuing both their intellectual capacity and their beauty, without feeling forced to choose between the two.
Being a role model is not just a privilege; it is a responsibility. We are creating a movement where women can support each other through a network of trust and leadership that spans generations, where every woman feels empowered to become an inspiration of intelligence and beauty.
The true power lies not in allowing others’ imposed limitations to define who they are, but in embracing the entirety of their identity: leaders, beautiful, intelligent, and capable of achieving any goal. The women of the 21st century do not choose between being beautiful or intelligent—they are both. And that combination is what truly makes them powerful.
Lastly, the future of female leadership is in our hands. Through initiatives like Beyond the Crown, we are closer to building a world where every woman can reach her full potential, not just as a leader but as a true agent of change in her community and the world.
