During the festival preparations, we have been asking ourselves many questions and have been looking for the answers, and since you (spectators, readers and others) are an inseparable part of the festival, we would like to give you some space as well. Here is the space for your questions and our answers!*

* Come to us with this zero issue of Meeting Point. Do not be afraid to approach us at any time during the festival; we will be glad to give you our answer in this empty space. 5
EDITORIALS
The main theme of this year's International Festival of Drama Schools – SETKÁNÍ/ ENCOUNTER – is questions.
EDITORIALS
Editorial No. 2 Dear ladies and gentlemen! The fact that you are reading these lines can mean several things, but the most important one is that you probably find yourselves in the dim light of the SETKÁNÍ/ ENCOUNTER 2014 festival. You are now holding the very first issue of the Meeting Point, which merges naturally with the life of the festival. I hope that in the following days we will make the waiting for the particular performances more pleasant, we will fill the empty spaces in your cafe conversations, or we will help you save your promising but a little awkward rendezvous with some witty remark. Also, the chosen size of the bulletin is not accidental – meteorologists in Brno are again predicting a temperature catastrophe and there is nothing easier than to use the Meeting Point as a stylish fan. But before you begin using this lovely paperback, we recommend you read it first. Although this issue is special, you might discover several contributions and sections which can accompany you throughout the whole festival. You can also find an interview with Miriam Šedá, who is, due to last year's success, preparing another exclusive set of reflections influenced by the atmosphere of the festival. Probably the most important thing about this issue is the revelation of the program, which was a well-kept secret until now. As for me, I would like to add that you need not be afraid of any imbalance. The bulletin will be published bilingually. Despite some teasing you can look forward to serious matters as well. Give it a good start in Brno, so that we will have something to remember.

She has already been contributing to the Meeting Point magazine for two years. This year it will be the column Little Nothing. Nobody knows what she looks like. In order to give you some idea about Miriam Šedá, we are running this interview with her about Brno, literature and the SETKÁNÍ/ ENCOUNTER festival. Why do you stay anonymous during the festival? I certainly don't want to, just the opposite. By contributing to the Meeting Point I step right out of anonymity. Where can we meet you during the festival? Last year I grew fond of a few cafes here which were recommended to me by friends of my friends. But my favourite place is Kraví Hora – it has everything which I like – planetarium and crematorium. It has as nice view of Brno, just like from Stránska skala. During recent days it has been looking really nice there. Of course I would like to show up at the Meeting Point party – it is always fun! Who do you want to be during the festival? That's a tricky question. Perhaps I want to be myself as usual – a permanent festival participant. Bonus: What is your opinion on Fifty Shades of Grey? It is, of course, a brilliant book. I think it speaks for a wide group of women for whom Erika L. filled a certain gap in their life – unfulfilled sexual fantasies, or maybe she created in them the true feeling of suppressed perversion for a while. I would even say that James became the speaker of the new sexual revolutionary movement, which I proudly don't belong to. But what made me laugh even more was this other similar (maybe pointless) trilogy. I have recently come across the posters in the subway: really, what can Eighty Shades of Sensuality be about?

INTERVIEW
I Want To Be a Participant in the Festival
LITTLE NOTHING
Be... Full of Constant Expectations One does not relapse into old mistakes on purpose. One commits them especially when it is expected that one will make the same mistakes again without any substantial improvement. I must admit, I'm a recidivist. The editor-in-chief thought that despite the difficulties that I caused last year, I should still contribute to the Meeting Point magazine. Now that I have got this opportunity, I would like to “commit” a little reflection. Even when I manage to write something more or less excellent, one thing is clear to me. The International Theater Institute is not going to ask me, after reading my recent gloss, if I could write a manifesto for World Theater Day. Nevertheless, I am doing really well because I have already realised this fact. I know a whole bunch of people who think that their time will come and one day they will get a nice e-mail with an ITI sender line. But what is left to do but stare out of a window with a silly smile thinking about the fate of provincialism? I had my own heroes and nothing else. I thought that they looked really sexy when they could raise their left eyebrow a few centimeters higher than the other. However, during those five years, I had a chance to meet people who exceeded them in their significance (not only because they could raise both eyebrows at the same time). But I don't yet know what lesson results from this. Take this little personal confession as an entrance into the deep waters of the “Little Nothing” column, in which we might find the answers.

OFFPROGRAMME
A member of the professional jury, Christine Richiere, gave a very inspirational three-hour long workshop. In this workshop she gracefully addressed not only the work of the stage designer Josef Svoboda, but also his personal life. Mrs Richiere showed examples of Svoboda’s work such as his concept of scenography for a production of La Traviata, where he used a large mirror to reflect the action onto the ceiling.

There are not many festival bulletins in which nothing at all goes wrong. As an example let us just name the bulletin of the famous international festival whose editors disappeared from one day to the next after making a mistake in the name of a prominent director. However, Interpol found them alive in a pub on the other side of the continent. Thus, we would like to sincerely apologize to a member of the professional jury, Kristina Žantovská, for the inaccurate description of her current activities.
Kristina Žantovská Kristina Žantovská is a dramaturge and a journalist. She studied dramaturgy at The Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She worked as a dramaturge in several prominent Czech theatres: Divadlo na Vinohradech (Vinohrady Theatre), Divadlo Pod Palmovkou and Divadlo na Zábradlí (Theatre on the Balustrade). She is currently working as a dramaturge, creating new radio formats for Český rozhlas (Czech Radio). Her adaptation of the British sitcom Yes Minister is being performed at the Vinohrady Theatre.
