LOOK OUT Placing myself and others within the Australian landscape, these works seek to record interactions with nature. Scenes recalled from daily bush walks - a glimpse of sky or patch of ground - alongside closely observed details like leaf matter or patterns in mud, have been quickly and loosely painted onto fabric then patchworked into a “scene”. These fragments and details come together to create an impression, an abstracted but no less truthful version of the experience. Recent local bushfires, unseasonable snow, or encounters with birdlife are re-imagined in these works and show the day to day impact of nature. Based on my own observations and experiences, as well as on news stories and political events, I see these works as testimony to our relationship with the natural world. Adrienne Doig, 2015
