BUSH THEATRE The mad gamma haze and the crazy days. The minerals, the gold. On the surface, gone; only nano filaments remain - reach out and touch one. It’s gone…disappeared. But up in the caves it’s still all there. These works deal with light, the ‘mad gamma’ rays that wave through our atmosphere creating haze, permeating through trees and refracting on water bodies. They are about the deification of nature really.

It’s the rich mineral evidence at the mouths of caves that originally prompted me to paint them. They impart their precious ecology at their mouths. The boulders will have split over time, and a Kurrajong grows there in the gap sending her tap-root down to the damp bush floor. Wild morels pump up there. The purity is slashed by screeches of cockies. They steal the furry seeds from jet black and gnarly seed pods. It’s utopia, but also a trap. A windstrip comes through. The white devils blow around. Then a gamma shower lights up the diamonds and gold in the cave; illuminating the neon cleaver tendrils shrouding her entrance.

I warmly thank Martin Browne Contemporary. I would also like to extend heartfelt appreciation to all my supporters over the last twenty years of painting.
