THE TYPE OF LEARNER AND DESIGNER I AM When I started this degree I was always the “last minute” type of guy... Blogging right up until the deadline. Doing all nighters the night before. Frantically printing and cutting. Doing nine till nine in uni the whole of the last week.
How I’ve changed In the latest module, I had time to get a few necessary blog posts in before hand in but I was able to casually walk to uni feeling fresh cause I had energy because I got sleep the night before the hand in. I suppose I still did the nine till nine in uni the week before but that was due to me achieving such a higher grade in the OUGD202 module from doing the same thing.

WHAT I ACHIEVED FROM THIS YEAR These are some of the things I’m proud of this year Built confidence to contact professionals and arrange studio visits and to get feedback for my design work. Learnt a lot in terms of typography and layout from the graham sessions and also Self-development Got my first 2:1 at 66% in the module that I thought I would hate the most. Managed to improve my attendance percentage from 71% Sold work in a exhibition Got a live brief to re-create the fresher’s packs for 2013.

THE MISTAKES THAT I’VE OVERCOME These are some mistakes that I have learnt my lesson from and plan not to do again. Not to collaborate with someone who has a different style of work to me Leaving everything till last minute with the type journal Leaving my college card at home and having to go collect it so I don’t have to pay for a new one Try to be more constant with blogging instead of letting it build up for a week and being put off by the sheer amount that I have to do.

HOW THE PAST 9 MONTHS CHANGED MY AMBITIONS Some things have and there are yet some that will change such as these below... The design process is a very useful tool that I’ve been told to use from the start, I feel I’ve only just understood how useful it actually is Being set on being an editorial designer for some magazine company has now changed into wanting to do “something with type” I wanted to be freelance and after doing enterprise I defiantly don’t anymore

MY PLANS FOR THE SUMMER What I once expected to be a nice “free” summer holiday is now full of all this... My plans for the summer are to get a job that will help to fund the expenses of next year. Contact design agencies and get back in touch, which I have already emailed Fully brand myself and get all my personal content printed and ready to send out next year Enjoy a little big of personal time to make the most of my last free summer Get as much dissertation completed as possible so I have less stress when I get back Crack on with the summer brief all summer instead of leaving it till “last minute” again
