Our political and economic climate do make for worrying times, but both buyers and sellers should remember, is that

O U R S E RV I C E S The process of purchasing a new build flat or house, either for investment or occupation is a specialism that many estate agents are ill-equipped to deal with, as it is quite different from negotiating the sale of a normal home. This is why many developers employ specific new homes departments and staff to sell these. At Martyn Gerrard, we appreciate that whilst there are buyers that are quite specifically looking for a new build home, in today’s market, many property buyers are less specific as to whether they are looking for a ‘New Build Home’ or a ‘second hand home ‘ (as developers refer to it). Thus we have adapted our service so that we have a specialist Land and New Homes Department headed by our Sales Director Warren Price, who has twenty five years’ experience of dealing with new homes and his assistant manager Samantha Vangeen who has 16 years’ experience. COLERIDGE SCHOOL CYCLE RIDE TO AMSTERDAM In June, 25 parents of children from Coleridge School cycled the 250 km from Coleridge to Amsterdam. They made the journey in under 24 hours to raise much-needed funds for the school. Specifically, the goal of the cycle challenge was to help raise extra money for a refurbishment of the school’s playgrounds. The ever popular soak the estate agent also went to 5 events and again helped raise over £20,000 at the schools it attended.

VIKTOR, BORYS & ALEXANDER’S STORY Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice has supported Wiktor, his brother Borys, and his parents Aga and Lucas for almost 10 years. Here’s their story...
O
ur sons Wiktor, Borys and Alexander were born three months premature as a result of complications during my wife’s pregnancy. Unfortunately, Alexander suffered severe brain damage and passed away a few hours after birth. For a month, the doctors battled constantly to stabilise Wiktor and Borys. After three months of care, Borys was finally discharged from the hospital, though Wiktor had to stay in the Intensive Care Unit for a year battling for his life. During this time, he suffered several life-threatening complications which caused Cerebral Palsy. Wiktor needs our 24-hour care. His medication and liquid food are ingested directly into his stomach through a tube. Flu has threatened Wiktor’s life at least five times which is mentally and physically exhausting for the family. Each time he goes to hospital we never know how it will end. Our son is disabled and there is nothing we can do to change that, however, we want the best for him because we love him so much.
Noah’s Ark has supported us since July 2009. The Family Activities Team organise lots of fun and inclusive events for children with additional needs. My sons love the sensory activities and group singing, and Wiktor especially loves the bubble machine. These activities greatly help Wiktor’s development. One of the services that provides great support to our family is the Sibling Support Programme. My son Borys has the opportunity to spend time with other children and engage with them. It allows us the freedom to devote more time to Wiktor. Noah’s Ark - this wonderful charity - has been like one big family, aiding us through joyous and sorrowful moments. They are always eager to help and most importantly, all the children are happy and feel included.
