‘Create a business card for the artist Maxwell Rushton.’ I Decided to take the brief further designing the business cards and applying the design to potential ranges allowing the artist identity spread and grow creating a contemporary & professional look. I have created 3 routes for you to have a look at. These routes are not final and can be ammended and tweaked to your own specifications/wants/needs. Hope you like them, Martyn.

•Din Pro The typeface is clean and sleek allowing for a professional look but is subtle enough to not attention away from the artist’s work.

The typeface can be used in a variety of weights allowing for versitile application to all other areas of the artist’s identity.

Akzidenz-Grotesk BQ Again a simialr sans serif typeface was choosen to keep the artist’s identity contempory and up to date.

The typeface creates almost a netrual look allowing for the artist’s work to be the showcase rather than the identity itself.

Each card is a cropped hi res image of the artist’s work giving a little preveiw to the person it is given to. The logo or becomes the rather than typographic

branding then artist’s work a icon or treatment.

This could be selceted work of the moment or even the sketchbook and ideas of the artist. This way People remeber the artist for thier work rather than the identity.

The card could be produced in limited runs allowing for a edition number to be applied to the card creating a small piece of artwork for the new contact to take away with them. The Typeography can be applied using a custom made stamp making each business card a little more personal as well as being great value for money(cheap) and easy to produce. This approach could then be added to other material such as letter heads, compliment slips website etc.

Bespoke personal touch.


USIS 1949 This typeface was chossen to represent the custom made stamp idea which this whole route has evolved around.

There are many types of ‘typewritter’ style fonts which would suit the artist’s work, so there other avenues of choice.

The typeface only has 1 weight and is caps only.
