Re-brand & Re-design the identity for The Mart theatre based in Skipton.
Boiled Down to it The Mart theatre is ‘Something in an unusal place’ and that’s how i want to approach this brief.
The theatre is a live stock market during the day and a theatre by evening making it a unique experience and venue.

RESEARCH. I have looked at things that would appeal to the audience giving off a friendly country home feel which will appeal to the exsiting audience and the more contempoary type will make the theatre look serious and less amateur dramatics.

RESEARCH. After looking into the mart’s current branding and identity it was apparant that the main point of contact in terms of tickets and info was the website.
This will be one of the products included in The Mart’s branded range.

THE MARK. After Going through a number of ideas for the logo I decided to use the tradtional use of wood block letters to create a modern yet tradtional look.

THE MARK II. This is the developed mark i have chossen to run with. It Suggest’s diverstiy using the mixed up typefaces which consist of masculine sans serif & slab fonts and more feminine, theatrical serif fonts.
I feel that this asthetic would appeal to the audience and also creates a more contempoary identity for The Mart.

THE MART THEATRE.
THE TYPEFACE. The typeface used within the identity will be Gill Sans. The typeface suggest british heritage and class which suits the target audience and area down to a tee.
The Typeface is versitile and can be used in a number of weight for headers, titles and body copy etc. 1 Problem is that the typeface isnt websafe so could’nt be used for web copy. any suggestions? (Trebuchet).

THE IDEA. So The concept is ‘Somthing in an unusual place’ and i have come up with the idea of little promo events held in Skipton to promote the actual venue itself.
The idea is to put events that you would assume with a theatre in unsual places around the local area.

THE IDEA II. My first idea is to use photography of the unusal place with simple type and the logo.
I have outsourced a photographer to take pictures to use within the identity.
These promo flyers/postcards will be place within and around skipton.
These can be used for the website and other branded products to keep a consistant theme.

THE IDEA III. This idea can be developed further, I have thought about having posters that direct you to promo material in unusual spaces.
Aterntitavly the promo material could be placed in unusual places where people will notice them.

The colour way i have choosen is the the colour of the interior on the building keeping a visual consistacy through brand and building.
