Newsletter
WELCOME FROM THE INCOMING CHAIR H i all! Welcome to the Caucus on H omelessness and a new year! There are several major changes in the Caucus this year. For one, we have several outgoing officers. MESSAGE FROM THE OUTGOING CHAIR H i everyone,
on H omelessness as well as advocate for new opportunities for the other member caucuses, large and small.
H ere it is, my final time to write to you all - the members of the APH A Caucus on H omelessnessas we head into the APH A Annual M eeting once again. I can?t even begin to tell you how grateful I am for the opportunity to have coordinated the leadership of this program for all these years. In that time, we?ve come a long way: from just a listserv and a few panels at the annual meeting, we?ve tripled our membership, doubled our panels and poster sessions, adopted by- laws and helped plan and launch APH A?s Caucus Collaborative. We?ve launched a website and a Facebook page, waded into APH A?s policy review process, created a mentorship opportunity for public health students interested in careers focused on housing, homelessness, and health.
While I?m beyond proud of everything we?ve accomplished, I?m even more optimistic for the future of the Caucus going forward. We have added some stellar new talent to the leadership team this year and the transition into the tenure of Dr. Jack Tsai as our chair bodes incredibly well for the continued expansion of the program. One final time- thanks for all the great work that you do, Ben King, M PH Outgoing Chair, Caucus on H omelessness
In particular, I have to thank Kathy Proctor, M olly M einbresse, and Claudia Davidson, who each served as Program Chair of the Caucus during my tenure as Chair. These three carried out the core planning and operations of the caucus while remaining patient with me and my thoughts on how and where to grow the scope of our organization. As Jack pointed out in his introductory letter, I am going to be stepping into a new role within the APH A governance chairing the organizing body for the entire collaborative of 17 APH A caucuses (APH A- CC), representing them on the Intersectional Council steering committee and hopefully soon to the Executive Board as well. From there I will continue to support the growth of the Caucus
