Fred Reid, who was himself a participant in The Schools from age 8 in 1945, gives his personal recollections of them, followed by an account of their history, based on his article in International Review of Social History, 1965. Fred Reid is Reader Emeritus in History, University of Warwick. His publications include 'Keir Hardie: the Making of a Socialist'. 10 March: Jane Rosen "Thou Shalt Teach Revolution" : Tom Anderson and the Proletarian School Movement Jane Rosen is a Librarian at the Imperial War Museum, London. Her research interests include radical and working class children’s literature and she has produced work on the publications of the Socialist Sunday School Movement and the Proletarian Schools and Colleges at the beginning of the Twentieth Century 17 March: Annebella Pollen The Kindred of the Kibbo Kift Annebella Pollen is Principal Lecturer in the History of Art and Design at University of Brighton. She is the author of The Kindred of the Kibbo Kift (Donlon Books) and the co-curator of Intellectual Barbarians: The Kibbo Kift Kindred, at Whitechapel Gallery, London (until 13 March 2016) 24 March: Professor Mary Davis on the Woodcraft Folk Mary Davis is professor of labour history at Royal Holloway, University of London and is the deputy director of the Working Lives Research Institute and author of 'Fashioning a New World: A History of the Woodcraft Folk' (2000). 31 March: New Ways to Tell Old Stories: putting the political into historical fiction for today's young readers. Author Lydia Syson in conversation with Meirian Jump Lydia, a former BBC World Service radio producer, is the author of three recent critically-acclaimed novels for young adults. A World Between Us (2012) tells the story of three British volunteers in the Spanish Civil War.
