How did the Sarah James Fulcher Red Fish Tournament get started? This tournament is held in honor of Sarah James Fulcher, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 9 from semilobar holoprosencephaly, an abnormality of brain development in which the frontal lobes don't properly divide into the right and left hemispheres. Though Sarah James was taken from this world too soon, everyone who met Sarah was left impacted by her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. The drum fishing may have originally been the big appeal, but in just four short years the tournament has become a weekend-long festival! With a lively music scene you will hear everything from local artists to bands that are climbing the charts. There are multiple local food trucks, a silent auction, pig-pickin’, kids activities, and of course the fishing tournament.

Where do the proceeds go? All proceeds from the events go toward Another Perspective, a nonprofit promoting community development and inclusion for all members through recreation, education, the arts, and conservation.
