Mary Lou Springstead

Mary Lou Springstead was born and raised in Brooksville, Florida surrounded by oak trees, spanish moss and the Gulf of Mexico. ML has been making art since she was a child. ML puts things together that don't normally fit. She paints from her unconscious and emotions. Her art influences are: the surreal, the visionary and the unusual. Her mediums range from acrylic, oil and watercolor to digital applications, photography and mixed media. She tells stories with imagery,color and form. She creates mythological landscapes using contemporary and ancient symbols. She documents the urban and natural landscapes around her with a digital camera. She received her BA in Studio Art from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida (1992). In 1996 she graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee with her Master's degree in Art Therapy. ML is currently attending Teesside University in Middlesbrough, England working on her Master's degree in Future Design.
