School Profile 2015/2016
Confident girls. Ethical leaders. Global advocates.
The Marymount Difference.
We educate with the purpose of shaping young women to become leaders for the future who will enact change for the common good. At Marymount, it’s not about being the best in the world—it’s about being the best for the world.
CHARACTER
SERVICE
A hallmark of life at Marymount is the emphasis placed on the development of the “whole girl”—academically, socially, and spiritually. The most important quality of our school is an environment that ensures each girl is empowered and nurtured so that she realizes her full potential. With this support, our girls fearlessly challenge themselves to advance their minds, spirits and hearts during their time at Marymount, building a strong foundation grounded in self-awareness, ethics, and poise as they move on to college and the chapters ahead.
A signature piece of the Marymount curriculum is our service-learning program, which begins in the classroom. Service-learning projects are tied directly to the Theology curriculum, engaging students first in examination and dialogue of social issues, then calling them to move beyond our campus to the outside world. Service projects are often completed in collaboration with our partners at “A Place Called Home”, an after school program offering low-income youth a safe space to study, play, and learn. Through this, students learn how their unique skill-sets and actions have a direct and immediate impact on our community.
HERITAGE
TECHNOLOGY
The expansive and inclusive nature of our RSHM heritage is founded on the principle that every girl deserves a quality education. After nine decades of educating, we continue to foster and embrace the spirituality in each student, however she may define it. The richness that a spiritual education provides in shaping thoughtful leaders with a responsibility to the common good, teaches our students religious literacy and mindfulness in a world where faith can divide.
Marymount is proud to have been the first all-girls secondary school in Southern California to institute a 1:1 student laptop program, equipping each student with the latest MacBook Pro® and each classroom with iPads.®

Here’s why a few members of the Class of 2019 chose Marymount: “Marymount develops the whole person while also providing challenging academics. From the moment I stepped onto Marymount’s campus, something clicked. I felt welcomed and content in the supportive, tranquil environment. I love the challenging academics and encouragement to be a leader.” -Sarah Fry
“Marymount is a good fit for me because my core values are what Marymount encourages. Marymount’s tagline defines what I always come back to when I’m faced with a difficult decision.” -Lilly Brodie-Berge
“MHS offers me a balance between strong academics, a caring social community and competitive athletics. I am excited to attend an all girls’ school and be in smaller classes so I can work closely with my teachers. I also like that Marymount will provide an opportunity to be in an environment where my religion matters.” -Ava Prunier-Herman
