ur first muster was held on Saturday 31 March where we welcomed new members to the club and had a settling day to give instructors the chance to assess riders. We all got to see how last year’s members had progressed over the summer holidays and see a number of members riding on new horses, along with meeting our new riders. Our qualified instructors for the day, Melissa, Rachael and Sonia were joined by our trainee instructors Gayle, Jude and Shannon for lessons in flatwork and jumping. The jumping alley was so popular we continued the lesson after lunch. Local vet nurse, Kate Taylor, provided an informative talk on emergency wound care and the items we need in a horse first aid box. Kate will join us for two more horse care sessions over the coming months. From March 29 to 31 was the Toowoomba Royal Show. Two KPC riders competed and both girls rode beautifully. Romy McCullough rode along with Jessie Falconer who placed 5th and 6th in her Thoroughbred classes and came 2nd in all her Show Hunter Classes. Jessie got Reserved Champion Working Show Hunter - Woohoo!

Maleny Gymkhana was held on Sunday 1 April. Jessie Falconer placed 2nd overall in her age group and also got Champion Rider – another great result – well done! Rachael Law placed 3rd overall in her age group, great job Rachael, and Sonia Law enjoyed her day out riding also.

KENILWORTH hat link does John Delaney Bergin have with Kenilworth?

O

ver the Easter weekend the Kenilworth Museum was visited by the last surviving grandchild of John Delaney and Jane (nee Moore) Bergin. There were 10 Bergin children, the seventh – Hugh Phillip was the father of Dympna (Dee) Mary Catherine Fallon (see photo). It was a delight to converse with the family and gather more information on the history of the district from their family archives. The family links with Kenilworth of today are as follows:Cambroon Run was tendered for on Tender No. 14 in May 1850 by Mr J D Mactaggart. The tender for 16,000 acres (6,474.98ha) was accepted in 1855, the lease being for eight years at an annual rental of £10/1/8 ($20.17), carrying capacity 4,000 sheep. Soon after the Cambroon Run tender was accepted, Mr J D Mactaggart transferred it to Mr John C McDonald who in turn transferred it to Mr David Mander Jones. Mr Jones transferred it to Mr W B Tooth, who sold to Mr John Delaney Bergin in 1859. (Hinka Booma to Kenilworth, 2005). John Delaney Bergin was born March 10, 1825 in Roscrea, County Tipperary, Ireland. He trained as a butcher prior to migrating to Australia with his brother Michael in 1852. The brothers settled in Bendigo establishing a store and gold buying business. John was elected a member of the Local Board of Mines, a position he held for some years, representing miners. The firm of Bergin and Bergin formed branches at Fryer Creek, Castlemaine and other centres involved in gold mining. In 1854 John took up land outside Goomeri on the Burnett and named it “Barambah”. In 1857 he sold the property to Mr Samuel Moore and met his daughter Jane whom he married in 1858. The couple settled on Obi Obi Run on the Mary River and resided there for 10 years during which time the properties of Cambroon and Cordalba were added to his land holdings and he named this run Mount Budgeon. (Reference: The Bergin’s of Samford compiled and edited by Kerry Fuller). Mr J. D. Bergin sold this large estate to his brother-in-law, Mr Isaac Moore who owned Kenilworth Run, in 1867. The run was resumed under the Land Act of 1868. It was the Moore family who subdivided Kenilworth Run, surveyed the township land and sold it by auction on September 29, 1921. Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Week 7 - 13 May 2012

T

his awareness week highlights the reality of living in a toxic 21st century, awareness of the short and long term affect of artificial, mostly man made chemicals that we consume, breathe in and live in. Toxic substances that people with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) become disabled by include any quantity of exposures to pesticides, secondhand smoke, alcohol, fresh paint, scented products and perfumes, candles, fragrances, food preservatives, flavour enhancers, aerosols, tap water, cosmetics, personal care products, new carpets, petroleum products, formaldehyde, outdoor pollutants, newspaper ink, cleaning compounds, printing and office products, and other synthetically derived chemicals. Some also become ill from natural products that are highly concentrated such as natural orange cleaners due to high volatile organic compound and pesticide concentration. Symptoms can range from minor annoyances (headache, runny nose) to life threatening reactions (seizures, anaphalaxis). In 1999 clinicians and researchers defined MCS as a condition by the following criteria: • A chronic condition. • Symptoms recur reproducibly. • Symptoms occur when exposed to low levels of chemical exposure. • Symptoms occur when exposed to multiple unrelated chemicals. • Symptoms improve or resolve when trigger chemicals are removed. • Multiple organ systems are affected. Above explanation from www.mcs-america.org Helpful websites include: MCS support groups - Australian Chemical Trauma Alliance - www. ozemail.com.au/~actall Allergy and Environmental Sensitivity Support and Research Assoc Inc. www.aessra.org (includes one page list of fragrant free personal care products available in Australia) Low or no chemical environment to live in - www.safersolutions.org.au Food and water - www.westonaprice.org www.fedup.com.au - looks specifically at additives and preservatives Sandra Steingraber - acclaimed ecologist and author - mother and cancer survivor, who explores the links between human rights and the environment with a focus on chemical contamination. T

he first term of the 2012 school year has come to an end – and what a term it has been at KSCC!! It may have been a very wet start to the year but it did nothing to dampen the spirits of students and staff. This year we have introduced a new behaviour rewards policy into our school. Our three school rules are: Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be a Learner. If students are abiding by these rules they are rewarded with a wristband. Twice a term a rewards session is given to students who have achieved a given amount of wristbands. The rewards are different each time and are exciting enough for students to want to participate. This is a positive approach to behaviour and has proved very successful in maintaining a constructive and encouraging environment for our students.

clock in trying to gain a personal best time. This proved as satisfying as winning the race! The highlight of the day was watching the older children help the younger ones in and out of the pool – another wonderful advantage of a small school. All in all Term One 2012 proved to be a busy yet rewarding 10 weeks – stay tuned for another three terms of exciting, educational experiences at KSCC.

Term One also saw every student in our school receive a free swimming rashie and hat (see photo right). Protection from our harsh, Queensland sun is an important issue and it was decided that the school would purchase rashies and hats for the benefit of our students. White rashies with the KSCC emblem and green hats have become the new fashion statement in Kenilworth! KSCC believes in providing our students with opportunities that they might otherwise miss out on in living in a small community. One of these opportunities was the two day Treeline Ceramic Workshop that was held at the college recently. All the students participated, working with renowned artist Shannon Garson, in making and learning about Ephemeral Art. Thanks to Shannon and the Noosa Art Gallery for allowing our students to experience art in this form. You may be forgiven for thinking the Easter Bunny had arrived early this year. Chocolates were the only item on the menu when we held a chocolate drive recently to help raise funds for our whole-school camp to be held later this year. This year we are heading to Brisbane so the children can experience the wonders of the ‘big smoke’. Thanks to everyone who supported our students in their fundraising efforts and congratulations to the Field family for winning the Easter hamper for selling the most amount of chocolate. Happy eating! After a postponement because of the endless wet we finally scored a sunny day to hold our annual swimming carnival. This proved to be a great way to end the term. After enthusiastic war cries, close races and lots of fun, Waratah were declared the champion swimming team of 2012. This year students were not only competing against other swimmers but were also competing against the

The last few years have indicated a rise in the attendance at the dawn service and at the parade with an increase participation by the younger generation. “To them will fall the torch” to ensure that our country remains. Ronald Reagon, former US president said “Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction. We don’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on to them to do the same.” We owe a debt of gratitude to those veterans, men and women whose sacrifice ensured the freedom we enjoy today. That is a debt that can never be repayed in full. Kenilworth RSL meetings will be held every SECOND MONTH on the second Monday of the month until further notice. The next general meeting will be Monday 11 June 2012 and Kenilworth RSL will continue to insert articles every month to keep the community informed. Sonja Kallman

MARY VALLEY

S

Dagun Growers Market celebrates its first year

aturday May 26 from 2pm marks the anniversary of the Growers Market and what an interesting and vibrant year it has been. The number of growers supplying market has increased as it was shown in a food production survey in the Mary Valley conducted by Elaine Bradley that the biggest constraint to food producers was they were too busy marketing their produce to be able to spend more time increasing their stock. Other difficulties that featured prominently were difficulties with transport and labour. The surveys recommendations have led to the establishment of a Mary Valley food hub, a central area that can market and distribute local food products and provide support for new and intending growers/food producers. This will enable greater ease of local food made available to cafes, restaurants and food outlets. Dagun Growers Market fosters this philosophy and demands a fair price for growers. It strives to keep local food local and encourages the seasonality of food by offering fresh picked, spray free, high nutrient content fruit and vegetables and gets you tasting new flavours of food! (Go the mighty wing bean).

Dagun Growers Market is continuing to foster great community atmosphere by providing weekly activities from “herbs and spices”, “healthy gardens”, “craft and music” and “landcare and bushfoods”. The kids had a great day creating pots for planting their magic beans and Zela whizzed up some fantastic bunya nut pesto. Join in the celebrations on May 26 and learn how to make a gorgeous basket from the noxious weed Cats Claw. There will also be screen printing, so bring a T-shirt or take home a calico bag sporting the market logo. There will be a BBQ and music in the late afternoon. Bring an instrument and join in the community sprit that is enjoyed on market days. www.dagungrowersmarket.com

Mary Valley Country exposed

he Mary Valley Country Marketing Committee along with dtb! Advertising have combined forces to expose the Mary Valley and all her hidden secrets. The new brand and website www.maryvalleycountry. com.au went live on April 30 at Kandanga Bowls Club. Local businesses have been getting on board to register their websites and activities for free with the website, with the joint vision to gain exposure through links, social networking and digital media. The website is activity focused, detailing the extent of nature based tourism on offer in the Mary Valley. Interactive brochures have been developed highlighting the best spots and operators offering everything from introductory courses to all weekend itineraries with, for example, fishing, kayaking, camping, horse riding or bushwalking. Mary Valley Country is also offering valley businesses the opportunity to attend three free workshops in order to keep their key activities up there with the rest of Australia and get the most out of the site by improving their skills to utilise the marketing campaign. Questions like “Why is the digital approach so important to the region?” and “How to set up your Facebook page” will be answered at the free workshops. Participants will find out about allowing information to be easily accessed by the digital user, and most importantly how to increase their Search Engine Optimisation. “Visitors to the Sunshine Coast need to understand the Mary Valley is not that far away. We are only 40 minutes from Noosa and offer something unique to families and daytrippers wanting to get back to nature. This website is our opportunity to change all that,” project manager Lesa Bell said. Workshops are to be held at Mary Valley State College on May 14, 28 and June 11 from 6-8pm. For further information and inquiries phone Ms Bell on 5488 6595 or 0428 193156 or email tourism@themaryvalley.com.au Photo above: Christina, Lesa and Tania at intro night 16 April 2012 and the boys Pete and Martin.

Hinterland Pianist Achieves Goal

S

unshine Coast Hinterland teenager Harriette Watson recently completed her Diploma in Piano through the Australian Musical Examinations Board. After seven years of study under the instruction of Mrs Jean Sandell since her retirement to Kenilworth from Rockhampton, Harriette sat an exam on March 24 with delightful results. The exam requirements included playing four pieces of a set standard which covered a variety of musical eras including Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary. Harriette played compositions for two examiners and then give a short seminar on the history and theory of each of the pieces different genres, composers and characteristics. The grade 12 boarder at St Margaret’s Anglican Girl’s school plans to take a short break from her intensive piano study to focus on her last year of schooling where she also sings in the school choir and is part of the senior rockband. But it’s not over just yet, Miss Watson is considering returning to intensive training again next year with the intension of gaining her Licentiate of Piano (LMusA), the second highest level attainable.

OUR COMMUNITY SUCCESS FOR THE PICTURE SHOW MAN

T

his year the Eumundi School of Arts hall turns 100 and the Eumundi Independent theatre have a number of shows on to help celebrate and “The Picture Show Man was the first. The event was well attended – Sunday’s matinee included a group from the Kenilworth museum. Many said they found it informative, entertaining and funny. It was a lovely way to start the celebrations for the 100th birthday of the historic building which has been and continues to be such a focal point of our community. Kev will be giving us a copy of the digital slide show he used which we will show during the three days of planned activities in November as part of a reenactment of the building opening.

REACH THE “SKY AT IMBIL GALLERY

allery & CafĂŠ Frit at 104 Yabba Road, Imbil, “the old bankâ€? as it is fondly known, is quickly becoming known as the best and most comprehensive collection of ceramic art in South East Qld and the West End roasted fair trade coffee, Blackstar, has earned a reputation through its consistency and quality, enhanced by the handmade eats. Ambience abounds in this quirky colourful and welcoming veranda environment which opens Wednesday to Sunday inclusive 9am to 3pm. Gallery Frit also has a dedicated exhibition space known as Gallery II allowing director Christina Allen to show other genres in the visual arts through solo or group exhibitions. Elli Schlunke brings us “Skyâ€? and will be the first painter to have a solo exhibition at Gallery Frit.

On the photo below Kev Franzi appears with Colin Seib who was one of Eumundi’s ‘Picture Show Men’ in the late 1950’s. Kev presented the Australian movie ‘The Picture Show Man’ and a very entertaining digital story he had put together of the history of cinema from the silent movies, to the ‘talkies’ right through to the digital age, with special mention about the early days of the ‘Pictures’ as they were called in Kennilworth and Eumundi.

Elli rarely exhibits her paintings, being better known for her sculptures. Monumental bronzes by Elli are located in China and Alexandra Headlands, while small rocking bronze sculptures inspire one to delight in playing with them. Elli uses her happy nature and quirky humour to create works that bring a smile and lighten the heart. “Sky shows Elli’s interest in abstracted patterns made by things seen against the sky and while looking down, as well as visions of things not normally seen in the sky. “Sky opens at 5.30pm on Saturday 5 May until Friday 1 June in gallery hours and by appointment. enilworth Artist Run Initiative (KARI) artists are busy with last minute preparations for their latest exhibition Outre that opens on Saturday 5 May. Outré is a French word meaning “out there” and these artists are exploring themes, techniques and forms that are out there at the edge of contemporary art. The KARI artists in this exhibition include Chris (Kip) Clark, Vit Martinek, Anna Howard and Ellen Appleby. Kip’s current work focuses on abstract representation of the human form. His sculpture exploits the fact that all people are good at reading emotion from the body-language of others: so if a sculpture can capture the essence of the person then it can fulfill the main purpose of art – the expression of emotion. This work tries to peel away some of the physical and emotional barriers in which we cloak ourselves – hopefully revealing something of the person within. Vit’s work relates to the human head and the wonders of MRI imaging in which internal images of thin slices of the head and brain can be examined. He sees this as a metaphor for gaining understandings of the mind or self. Vit says “this is a bit outré (out there) however I do find the concept intriguing and the ceramics look great when mounted and glazed”. Anna continues to explore mixed media with rich textures and colour. Her work is influenced by the landscape she lives in. Ceramic sculptures of buildings are from Ellen’s reflections of travels in Southern Spain, and are influenced by Islamic design and Gaudi. For her, the colourful patterned doorways evoke poetic images of pilgrims as they tread ancient pathways. Ornate patterned buildings and architecture with stairs are dreamlike icons, possibly stepping skywards towards dreamlike, or even spiritual realms. KARI has just celebrated its first anniversary, and launched 2012 with a highly successful exhibition of two well-known local artists Ted Moran and Ian Gunn which end late April. Outré opens on Saturday 5 May at 11am in the KARI gallery, 10a Elizabeth Street, Kenilworth, and will continue until the end of June.

issue during the last decade in Australia, as up to 90% of the garlic available in our supermarkets is imported, either from China or from South America. Chinese garlic is of particular concern, as many farmers use chemicals that have been outlawed in Australia, and the garlic is also both irradiated and then bleached with chlorine. In addition, Australian Quarantine sprays all garlic that is imported with methyl bromide before it is allowed onto our supermarket shelves. These practices all create potential health problems for consumers, so it is important to be selective about the garlic we purchase. If you are concerned about the price of Australian garlic, then it may to time to consider growing some. Garlic is generally known as an important health aid, particularly when it comes to heart health. Hundreds of studies have shown that regular consumption of garlic offers protection against the formation of plaque within artery walls, and have also established that it can help to lower the production of LDL (bad) cholesterol, while at the same time increasing the production of HDL (good) cholesterol. There have also been some reported effects against high blood pressure, as it is believed that garlic helps to relax blood vessels. Everyone is aware of the strong odour of garlic, and it is this pungent and powerful aspect of the plant that is responsible for many of its medicinal properties. The sulphur-based chemicals in garlic (which tend to become more active when crushed or chopped) are fantastic antibacterial and antiviral agents, particularly for the upper respiratory tract. This means that they destroy agents that cause colds and flu as they pass through the airways, and also work to eliminate digestive parasites such as Candida. Studies indicate that regular consumption of garlic can reduce the effects of conditions such as arthritis, asthma, and hardening of the arteries. There is also some evidence to suggest that garlic consumption may offer protection against colon cancer, as it has been found to stop cells from mutating. Garlic can be used in so many dishes, and should really be one of the first things which is chopped and added to soups, stews, casseroles, curries etc., alongside onions. Eaten raw (if you’re not worried about frightening off a few friends!) add it to salad dressings. My favourite way to eat garlic by far however is to roast it and then eat it spread on fresh bread or toast; it’s also great added to mashed potatoes. For some reason this method of preparing garlic reduces the effect of “garlic breath.” Roasted whole garlic bulbs 1. Preheat the oven to 200C. 2. Cut the tops off whole garlic bulbs so that the cloves are just exposed. Place them in a baking dish with the cut sides up. 3. Drizzle garlic with a little bit of olive oil, sprinkle with some sea salt, and roast for approximately 45 mins. 4. The garlic will simply squeeze out when turned upside down, and can be used in any way that you fancy. Gabby Scott Belli Park Chef and Naturopath

MARY VALLEY FIESTA THIS SUNDAY

f you’re out and about on the Labour Day weekend, why not drive over to Imbil early on Sunday 6 May 2012 and look over the Mary Valley Fiesta? Organisers Robyn Taylor and Phil Conder have brought together a fantastic group of local businesses on the Sunday 6 May which is the weekend before Mothers Day (May 12) with items that might be just right for your Mum! This new Fiesta for the Mary Valley will see all manner of goods and services present and displaying their wares to the public and all in relaxed and colourful country surroundings. To cater for all age groups there’ll be a jumping castle for the children and the more adventurous can have a go at the rock climbing wall. And of course to keep the tummy rumbles away the local SES will hold a sausage sizzle starting early. Plus other stalls will include tea and coffee, ice creams and a wide assortment of organic and local foods to tantalise the tastebuds. With live music and great entertainment on the day there’ll be plenty for everyone to see and enjoy. There’s ample parking on site at 126 Yabba Road so pack your family into the car this Sunday and follow the roads to Imbil. All proceeds from the fantastic raffles for Mums on the day will go to the Neighbourhood Watch and the local Children’s Christmas Party. For further information contact Robyn or Phil on 5484 5363.

PREPARING FOR MARY RIVER FESTIVAL

O

n Wednesday 4 April a meeting Chaired by Joolie Gibbs was held in Kandanga looking at preparations for the Mary River Festival coming up again this year on Saturday 10 November. General discussions were around entertainment where names like Carter Edwards and Lee Turner came up. However there were bookings already made by Ravi, Floating Bridges and John Malcolm with Tony Hawkyard who handles a big part of the entertainment side, so it looks like being a great day in this department. To keep people moving around several workshops were suggested including making puppets, collecting Cats Claw before hand then using it on the day for weaving, where some very interesting objects can be created. In the creative department it has been found that some very interesting musical instruments can be made from strange objects like recycled materials, plastic drums and bottles and then used by the younger group to come up with some interesting sounds. In the theme section maybe we should be using one

based on the “Sounds of Mary” which would have a link with the “Sounds of Music” where the background would have river sounds like water falls, running water and bush sounds like frogs and bird calls. In view of the recent works that have gone on with the sports ground, it has been enlarged to the eastern section allowing more room for stalls in that area. After the interest in the “Pedal Blender” a couple of years ago there has been a push to get some more of this type of energy saving gadgetry on show so if anyone has any ideas just give us a call. Suggestions have been made to the “Men’s Shed” so hopefully there may be some heads “ticking”. For stalls enquiries or ideas for the development of our festival contact Trevor Jones, 07 5488 4708 or Joolie Gibbs Gympie Regional Gallery 07 5481 0733.

CALLING ALL GHEERULLA RESIDENTs

heerulla Hall and Recreation Grounds Association Inc. are seeking the participation of local residents in becoming members of and, hopefully, taking office on the Association’s Management Committee. Gheerulla Hall was constructed in 1907 by local residents and is owned freehold by the Association. Like the district which it services, it has seen quite a varied and busy lifetime over the years. The current Management Committee consists of five people who, like the hall, are feeling the ravages of age, and it is now time for younger residents to take up the cudgel and direct the hall forward. Part of the hall grounds is used by the Gheerulla Tennis Club who maintain excellent courts, a clubhouse and a recently updated children’s playground. They are a Committee totally separate from the Hall Committee, but work in well with the Hall Committee. As mentioned previously, it is now time for the Hall Committee to be reinvigorated through the introduction of fresh members and fresh ideas, and toward this a meeting is set down for Wednesday, 30 May 2012 at 7.30pm to determine the future of the Association. Should there be a lack of interest, then the current Committee will give serious consideration to closing the hall to future usage because without a Management Committee the hall cannot continue functioning and serving the community. Sale of the building and grounds would also receive serious consideration. So, it is up to you, the residents of Gheerulla, to either support or allow a 115 year old hall to disappear from the landscape. Blair Meldrum Secretary

South-east Queensland is from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council south to the border and west to Ipswich Regional Council.

Remember, when purchasing property, always ask for a full rates search. Council has had a few people with problems lately and if these people had done their FULL rate search they would have been well aware of what they were buying in to. Council now has a commercial tyre recycling company to take care of all the old tyres which are dumped each year, this sure takes a weight off Council and the landfills. Gympie careers expo is being held on Friday 27 July at the Show Pavilion on South Side. This year there are in excess of 60 groups on exhibit, so do come along. Do you have some good flood photos that you would like to share? If you go to www.mosaic.slq.qld.gov.au you can take part in the flood and cyclone mosaic project. Council have activated their Disaster Coordination Centre for the recent flood event with everything working like clock work. It’s a real credit to our staff and emergency services who manned the centre 24hrs per day. Our website was kept up to date with those roads which are closed, they have a notation ‘closed’ against the name of the road until it is open. Also make a note that the number to call in a disaster is SES on 133 2500. Free trees for rates are to be collected at City Farm (in Tafe grounds, Gympie) they only supply native Australian trees. Just take your rate notices along to claim your tree. Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett (RDA WBB) held a Community Engagement Workshop on 19 March to share views on key activities to be progressed across the Wide Bay Burnett region. Issues such as, strategic planning and partnerships, gaining our share of resource sector job opportunities, fostering a “culture” of education and skills development, encouraging regional investment and industry growth were discussed by the local attendees. These key activities are driven by an action plan and underpinned by the five Regional Priorities identified in the Wide Bay Burnett Regional Roadmap. The Community Engagement Workshops are an opportunity to have input into RDA WBB’s action plan to build on the region’s strengths and support social and economic prosperity for the future. Pest animals information can be found at www.feral.org.au,land or through the links on the MRCCC site. It helps our farming community to stay informed. Another note with regards to MRCCC, they are monitoring the Traveston Crossing Bridge works. First Response training is at 6.30pm, on 1st and 3rd Thursdays at Imbil Fire Brigade building. We are in need of more volunteers so do come along and join in.

From 6 July 2012, consistent school zone times will be implemented within local government jurisdictions outside southeast Queensland, including Gympie Regional Council. The Department of Transport and Main Roads will consider applications from councils to adopt school zone times that differ from the standard 7–9 am and 2–4 pm times of operation for all schools located in their jurisdiction to more accommodate regional requirements. Where the time of operation of a school zone is extended for an individual school, enhanced (flashing light) school zone signs must be installed at that school. The relevant road authority will be responsible for the costs of installing the additional enhanced (flashing light) school zone signage. What all this means is that from 6 July 2012, school zone times in the Gympie Regional Council area will be from 7am – 9am and 2pm-4pm unless otherwise signed. If the school zone is not for the standard times, there will be signs with flashing lights installed. The best advice is still to check the signs in the vicinity of schools and comply with those signs as that is what the Police will be enforcing. We have had a vast increase in the number of stealing complaints recently. It appears as though some thieves may have moved into our area over the past month or so. Stealing is occurring from vehicles which are not locked and from yards where the property is unattended. There has also been stealing from camping areas which is something that does not usually occur in our area. Please take care with your property. It is no longer safe to leave your wallet in an unlocked vehicle or even in clear view in a locked vehicle. It is no longer safe to leave your unlocked vehicle in the street outside your house. It is no longer safe to leave property (bicycles and scooters) in your yard overnight. It is unfortunate that our way of life has to change. If anyone has information on stealing in the Division, they can contact us at the Station or Crimestoppers on 1800 333000.
