Sacatar operates an oceanside historic estate in Itaparica, Bahia, Brazil, where creative individuals working in all disciplines may apply for eight-week residency fellowships. Selected through a competitive process open to all, each Sacatar fellow receives airfare, studio, room and board, as well as logistical support during his/her stay. Within the broader community, Sacatar engages with individuals, community organizations, schools, museums, libraries, and other cultural organizations to present public programs, performances, and educational opportunities. More than 500 Sacatar education and community engagement programs have taken place in Brazil and abroad since 2001. Sacatar is a member of Res Artis, the worldwide network of artist residencies, www.resartis.org, and of the Alliance of Artists Communities, www.artistcommunities.org. More info: www.sacatar.org
