The United States of Europe And the Inner States of Man
An organizational pyramid is inextricably bound to its leader's breath. A golden thread binds his image and personal destiny to that of his organization and his people. “The King is the land and the land is the King.”

Twenty years ago, all the talk was about a united Europe. One money, one country, one single idea that would bind peoples together to create a united economy able to weather the tumultuous social and financial climate of the times. Yet the problem seems not only to be unresolved, but to have worsened. Greece went bankrupt, unemployment levels are sky rocketing globally and the United Kingdom is on the verge of abandonment. Europe, as an organization lacks unity of purpose. Although the 27 member states had agreed to work together, reality confirms that each, until now, seems only to protect his own rights.
Universe. Somehow this vision, as the light, and the singleness of purpose of man has been lost.
The world, though apparently a unity, is divided into countries, the countries in political parties and the political parties into factions made of creeds, cultures, races and religions. If you could project a map of the modern day world according the thoughts of its men you would see not a rainbow of distinct orderly colors, but a distribution of patches of random color, and for the rest, mostly black. The clarity and order that come from unity are often, by virtue of their integrity undetectable.
Faced with a drowning man you would not hesitate to reach out a hand in the attempt to save him. You would feel he is a part of the same humanity that you are, and in that dire moment you would suffer his very plight and instinctively want to save him. There is no separation between men.
It is impossible to have a united Europe when everyone acts of his own free will. Only a European Consciousness can create the United States of Europe. Horizontally speaking – the destiny of a man, of a nation or civilization, is made by what that individual or individuals think and feel. The acts, objects, people and events exteriorized are the physical destiny prescribed and designed by the individuals themselves. Not by chance, of the most diffused symbols of the Renaissance, is Leonardo’s man inscribed in a circle. The figure represents a microcosm of the universe. An atom of humanity that stands for the totality. Man was seen as a harmonious being and the foundation of the

“Nothing happens unless first in your Dream, and it is the same for a nation. Nations Dream like individuals – are born and die like individuals. A nation, like an individual has to learn how to Dream.” Integrity, like unity of purpose, cannot be achieved by any external technique. Integrity is the result of an inside-out process of transmutation, of unification, cell by cell. Why is it that man believes in saving himself only and above any other thing?
There are no bombs dropping, no tanks, no planes crashing into the ground where I stand, but the danger is far more grave. It is an inner division that silently and from within will reduce the entire world to a shambles. “The economy of a country, it’s wealth, is directly proportional to the number of luminous individuals that live in that country. Healthy, upright, complete individuals. Health and Wealth are one. To be rich, which is the birth-right of every man, and to stay rich, you have to be healthy.” This prosperity cannot not be reached by individual states at odds with each other – there must be a healing in the psychology of man. What we are missing is a vision of man as a whole, what we are missing is a European consciousness. The United States of Europe can only be the natural consequence of the growth and development of a European consciousness. Being European doesn’t

mean to occupy a certain geographic area in Europe. Being European means thinking as a European, living in a country with European beliefs and traditions, and feeling as a European. Being European is an insideout process which means to develop in each citizen a European consciousness – an inner sense of European patriotism – a conscious, eternal idea of a united nation called “Europe”. As the founding fathers of the united states built that nation around life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, each individual, each European must see himself as not a citizen of an individual state but for what he is in this moment – as a European. The job of the leaders is to instil the principles upon which to build. States and nations must be conceived of as a whole if United Europe is to survive. “The solution comes from inside. What happens ‘outside’ is only a consequence.

European Consciousness is not something that you will be drawn into because first the others think of it and you agree. European Consciousness needs to be created. The awareness of a united Europe just as that of your own inner integrity has to come from you alone. You must live and experience an inner success, like unity of being before conquering it outside, otherwise you may experience it for a moment, then you will lose it. Success comes from within. Integrity is a permanent state of victory. European Consciousness will be the success of a healing process that will take place in every individual – man by man cell by cell from the inside out until first his vision is healed, and then the world itself…
