RESIDENTIAL BUILDING

ACADEMIC PROJECT/ POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY OF MILAN HOUSING + OFFICES STUDIO WORK 3/TUTOR: FRANCESCO MENEGATTIV

6

M Gavrilenko

The idea of the building is to use a modular units a size af one room. A series of these units are combined in a variety of ways to produce a multitude of apartment plans and sections. Every floor has a public space , open public balconys, that create holes in the building through which the far side of the building can be glimpsed, thus reducing the visual impression of massiveness. The building has an open roof . The large lookout space provides occupants and neighbours with a community garden and a space to contemplate the skyline.

The structural grid and the use of a modul permits a multiple use of an appartment. Plan is not locked by a specific program, the space can be used to suit changing needs. The project was designed in oder to integrate the capacity of evolution, for each space, and for the entire building.

GREEN ACADEMY

COMPETITION/ YOUNG ARCHITECTS COMPETITIONS MARZABOTTO, ITALY/ JUNE-JULY 2016

The new addition engages the existing building, transforming the entire site into the precinct of the visitor’s experience. It extends up, and is distinguished by glass lenses and neutral use of materials. As visitors move through the new addition, they will experience a flow between light, architecture and landscape, with views from one level to another, from inside

to outside. The light boxes, marking the building in its environment, were inspired by the technical additions on the roofs of industrial buildings. In this case they create a strong image on the outside and a spatial effect on the inside, combined with plentiful natural lighting.

The sober façade with concrete and glass panels stands with the new structure. The limited choices of materials with their specific characters define the extention as a neutral monolithic form, deluted however with a new landscape structure that brings greenery closer to the site.

The several distinct interior spaces in the new architecture provide varying atmospheres for presentation, workshop and coworking in the new business incubator, and a high space in the upper level volume for conferences and performances. Ground level contains different exibition spaces, and the school occupies the next two levels with the modular prefabricated classrooms (plugins) and a spacial library.

MICROHOUSE

COMPETITION/ XV ARCHITECTURAL FESTIVAL GORODA PARK OF ARTS “MUZEON”/ JANUARY-MAY 2013 MicroHouse for the RAIN TV channel The main idea was to create more function possibilities to use the space. Though the small size of the pavilion the TV channel can choose what space to use for the shooting. The pavilion of 15 mq has 6 studios, the main inside room, small terrace and outside spaces that can be created thanks to the special gates. On the two sides behind the gates there is a hidden folding floor. Gates decoration is imitating the rain.

INDESEM’15 WORKSHOP HYPERBODY/ DELFT UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

HYBRIDITY + PUBLIC SPACE + D2RP INTERNATIONAL DESIGN SEMINAR/TUTOR: HENRIETTE BIER, SINA MOSTAFAVI

The workshop focuses on applying design-to-robotic-production (D2RP) methods developed by the RB team to the design of an urban interface between the water and the building on the assigned site (Fenix Dock). Programmatic use of the urban interface was defined in relationship to local urban analysis, global societal challenges, and D2P constraints with the aim to explore hybridity, variation, and componentiality at different scales, ranging from micro levels, as material systems, to macro levels as spatial and architectural configurations. The project focuses on the connection and continuous variation of surfaces and elements. Using two robotic production methods: hot wire cutting and milling.

Robotic architecture Surface Texture

A Hybrid describes something of mixed origin or composition. It can also be defined as the interaction of components that produce the same or similar results. The mixing of components lets them inform and improve one another. The hybrid can consist of several materials or elements but also techniques or species. The project focuses on the connection and continuous variation of surfaces and elements. Using two robotic production methods: hot wire cutting and milling.
