It’s A New Year With New Opportunities!

H

appy 2018, everyone! Beginnings conjure many emotions---hope, excitement, questions, joy, awe, and sometimes a tad of trepidation. Certainly some of these are my emotions as I embark on my two-year journey as your Guild President! I am truly grateful and humbled that you elected me to this great honor. I HOPE I live up to your expectations. I am EXCITED, but have plenty of QUESTIONS! Volunteering for the Museum via the Guild is a JOY; I am in AWE of how much money we raise to support our great Museum. I must confess to a TAD OF TREPIDATION as I attempt to follow in the impressive footsteps of our great Past -President, Kathy Wilson. She did a stellar job as our leader! Our Board members are seasoned and dedicated volunteers. I salute each of them and eagerly anticipate a great partnership.

As always, we have a full schedule of activities designed to friend-raise and fund-

raise on behalf of the Museum. It takes a multitude of volunteers to accomplish all our goals---not just the core group of member volunteers who always sign on and work hard on our projects. I humbly challenge every member to please join us in doing the work of this Guild. I guarantee that you will enjoy every minute of working together on important and worthy common goals. I urge you to not wait to be asked. Contact me and let me know you are willing to work on a project. The more of us who are working on our events, the less work there is for any one individual. And that makes volunteering even more fun. Please do give it a try. We need you! I will be eagerly awaiting your call! Your help will ensure the ongoing success of our upcoming Golf Tournament, our Fashion Show, and our Garden Party‌. all very well-known and popular events that we stage in the spring. We also will need you to help with our other signature

event, the highly-regarded Halifax Art Festival and the Family Festival of Trees. And who knows what else?! I look forward to spending time with you on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Museum. Dr. Beverly McMurtry Grissom, Guild President
