President’s Message: Champion your industry

2022 IS AN ELECTION YEAR FOR MASTER BUILDERS. NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE AN IMPACT IN THE INDUSTRY YOU KNOW BEST.

There is no doubt that one of the core reasons we exist is to drive improvement and positive change for the industry. However, we can’t do that without the support of members who choose to get involved in our governing bodies and committees. It’s these groups and the broad representation of our membership base that genuinely make a difference and ensure our policies and recommendations to government are directly reflective of members’ needs. While as we go to print, nominations have closed for the Master Builders Electoral College and Divisional Representatives, there are plenty of additional opportunities at a grassroots local level, via our Committees of Management (COM), and for those interested in specific policy issues, via our policy committees. It’s vital that we have a cross-section of member representatives on each of these groups –ensuring we are representing the entire breadth of the industry and capturing the variety of local issues – because Queensland is a big state. We’ll soon be calling on members to fill positions on our Housing and Construction Sector Committees, Division and Branch COM and our policy subcommittees. All members are eligible to nominate for these groups. Getting involved is a great way to give back and make our industry a better place to work – for you and future generations. I have personally been involved with Master Builders for more than 20 years and there are so many things I’m proud of. In particular seeing our industry go from strength to strength, the representation we’ve achieved for regional Queensland and the work we do overall as an association to represent you.
