Keynote LEAD BETTER NOW - GREAT LEADERS AREN’T BORN, THEY’RE BUILT
8
One of the biggest challenges in construction today is the promotion of talented individuals to leadership positions without the training to succeed in this new role. Statistically, 60% of new managers fail within the first 24 months of their promotion. We’ve created a culture of turning A+ performers into C- managers, and in doing so, wrecked their confidence, results, and overall team culture. Many times, it’s not the individual who fails us, but the organization who failed to properly prepare their performer for this new role. In this keynote based on Jake’s 2024 book, Lead Better NOW, you will learn how to help your leaders thrive and give your company a competitive advantage in the market for talent.

CONTROL THE CONTROLLABLES How much time and energy do we consistently waste by focusing on what’s outside of our control? Organizations are full of finger-pointing, excuse making, and distracted teams 2.5 who are fixated on what they can’t control instead of owning what they can and using it LEADERSHIP to more effectively respond to challenges. We control our attitude, effort, and actions - not CREDITS outside forces. In this talk, learn how to tap into your own and your employees’ highest potential – by seizing control of what’s within your reach and putting it into a daily plan of attack. This program will teach your team how to discern what’s in their control and channel a tunnel vision focus.

THE FATAL 10: SUICIDE RISKS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION TRADES
DR. OLIVIA JOHNSON
Suicide is a reality for many occupational groups. Those in the construction trades have suicide rates four times higher than the general population (CDC, 2022). The Fatal 10 addresses factors that contribute to a death by suicide and will address specifically those factors in the construction and related trades. Issues include occupational items (e.g., pain, addiction, substance use, physical health) and issues that occur off duty (communication issues, financial problems, etc.). This session will address this issue from the “health model of wellness”, which means this is about being proactive rather than reactive. Suicide is preventable and this training will provide attendees with the power to inoculate against the Fatal 10. By addressing potential problems before they take hold, we can keep such issues from wreaking havoc in one’s life and career. Reducing risk saves lives, families, and careers. Fee: $250 per person
