Let’s face it, there’s always a “what’s next?” Your ability to individually and collectively reach that next big milestone – without burning out – has to do with the answer to the following question: How do we create motivation that lasts when we’re done? It turns out – while traditional leadership approaches focus on external rewards, the latest science shows us that the most flourishing contributors have a personal, internal connection to their work. That’s right; people with high intrinsic motivation experience lower rates of disengagement, higher levels of innovation and more fulfillment than those focused primarily on external factors. Forbes Top Rated keynote speaker, Jess Ekstrom, uses modern research and her experiences starting two multi-million dollar businesses to guide audiences to deeper engagement, fulfillment and lasting motivation in their role.
Objectives
• Why a primary focus on external motivation increases burnout
• How intrinsic motivation leads to increased problem solving and fulfillment
• The three psychological needs that inspire lasting motivation
• Simple secrets to more powerfully create and innovate everyday
• Three questions to lead yourself and others with a greater purpose in mind

Whenever she’s frustrated, she usually finds inspiration in a business idea to solve the problem. Hence, she’s a 2x successful social entrepreneur, author, and speaker. Jess is a serial social entrepreneur and bestselling author of Chasing the Bright Side and Create Your Bright Ideas. She has been featured in major media outlets such as the Today Show, TIME, Good Morning America, The View, Vanity Fair, People Magazine, Business Insider, Huffington Post and Forbes.
After starting and growing her multi-million dollar company, Headbands of Hope, in her dorm room, her speaking and writing career took off. But Jess realized that her success wasn’t about how far she can reach—but how far she can help other women reach. Today, through her writing, and her uber popular Mic Drop Workshop®, she helps women uncover the value in their story so they can make a living and a difference at the same time. She, her husband, her children and their 70lb fur baby reside in Raleigh, NC.

Matt VandeBerg grew up in Brandon, South Dakota where he attended Brandon Valley High School. Football led him to play wide receiver at the University of Iowa from 2013-2017. Matt faced numerous ups and downs at Iowa, which taught him lessons that he has now been able to take off of the field. In 2015, Matt was an integral part of the 12-0 regular season Rose Bowl team and learned what a good culture looks and feels like. The following year, he sustained a foot injury that sidelined him for almost the entire 2016 season. This injury taught Matt lessons he never thought he’d have to learn, but is now grateful to take into his personal and professional life. Knowing both ups and downs, good and bad, and even untouchable and failure, has put Matt in a unique situation to understand most perspectives and be able to pick the best route forward.
After a stint with the New York Jets and Chicago Bears, Matt has garnered new titles outside of “football player”. He is currently a Real Estate Agent for Urban Acres, a Keynote Speaker and Coach, wide receiver coach at Solon High School, private fundamental running instructor, Co-Host of the Podcast “Talkin’ Hawks with the VandeBergs”, and, most important, Husband and father.
