MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Associate Council and the professional staff, it is my pleasure to provide to the membership the Master Builders of Iowa 2020 Annual Report. Within this document you are given an update on the many initiatives MBI undertook this past year. Like many of you, 2020 has proven to be one of the most challenging in decades. Our industry has experienced trade wars that disrupted supply chains; world-wide pandemics; crazy weather events; social upheaval; and to top it off, a highly contentious election. Without question, 2020 tested our resolve, both individually and professionally. Through all of this, however, MBI and Iowa’s commercial building industry remained resilient. For instance, COVID-19 created unprecedented challenges, but we maintained the status of being deemed an essential industry by developing safeguards to protect workers on the job site. By being a strong advocate and a responsible partner in controlling out-breaks on the job site, the Iowa commercial building industry was able to continue to build with fewer interruptions than other industries experienced. Scott Ward Point Builders, LLC
As the essential resource to the industry, MBI had to be nimble and flexible in how it would provide services and no longer would our traditional way of delivery of such services work under the extraordinary circumstances presented by COVID-19. During the initial days and weeks of COVID, we posted – via the MBI-Blog – examples of best-practices and safety protocols for all in the industry to share on an almost a daily basis. We coordinated with industry partners to keep members informed on developments related to employee and family leave policies, as well as the federal response to the economic impacts brought on by the pandemic. Our communications efforts had to be accurate and responsive to the membership as new policies were being implemented almost on a daily basis. Like many associations and trade groups, our organization thrives on the ability to make connections and network amongst our construction colleagues. Unfortunately, COVID-19 limited such opportunities, forcing us to postpone or cancel many events and training programs. There were a few exceptions, however, which did allow for MBI members to attend a programs and education seminars in person while observing federal, state and local guidelines. In the case of the 20th Annual Construction Golf Classic and Smoker, the MBI-PAC’s main fundraiser, we had over 150 registered golfers and was poised to be an extremely successful – and safe – event. Well our high hopes were quickly dashed with the equivalent of a Category 3 hurricane hitting Iowa, decimating the course, as well as much of central and eastern Iowa. The curse of 2020 struck again with a derecho. Fortunately, not everything about 2020 was doom and gloom as there were a number of bright spots. 2020 marked the first year of a new three-year strategic plan. For the next three years, MBI will work to enhance its efforts on workforce development, recruitment and construction career advocacy; it will work to grow membership, while creating new value-added opportunities for members; MBI will proactively pursue efforts to expand alternative project delivery on public projects; while also looking to develop a plan to create a more functional, technology-friendly and accessible MBI headquarters. Through the objectives and goals outlined in the strategic plan, MBI will be well positioned to address the needs of the membership and challenges of this industry for many years going forward. MBI created MBI LIVE – a virtual training program that provides MBI members with a new way of learning remotely. The Association was also recognized by the Associated General Contractors of America for our workforce efforts with the Workforce Development Award – Honorable Mention. Also, MBI teamed up with Construction Safety Specialists Inc., MBI’s preferred safety provider to create the “Building a Safety Champion” program which will focus on developing a safety culture within a company. In closing, I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to preside over the MBI Board of Directors this past year. This group of dedicated individuals from throughout the state are proven leaders and enthusiastically lend their talents to make MBI the most effective and valuable association in Iowa. I thank you for your investment in MBI and your commitment to the Iowa commercial construction industry. All the best,
Scott Ward Point Builders, LLC 2020 MBI Chairman of the Board

FOLLOWING THE MISSION STATEMENT MBI’S MISSION IS TO BE THE ESSENTIAL RESOURCE FOR IMPROVING MEMBER PERFORMANCE AND PROMOTING A BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT FAVORABLE TO THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. Our members have consistently recognized the value provided by the Association and the ranks have remained strong and viable. At the heart of MBI’s value proposition is the belief held by our members that it is critical to sponsor and maintain an organization that is responsible to represent their industry when and where it is needed, and to undertake programs and services to increase the performance of its members. Another core belief is that companies in the commercial construction industry can work together collectively in an organization and create essential resources and opportunities that otherwise would not be possible if left to individual companies. MBI provides the structure for members to be good stewards for their industry — to band together to defend, represent, promote, educate and nurture their most important asset: their business. MBI works hard each and every day to sustain and grow its leadership position in the industry. Our thanks to all of the Master Builders and volunteer leaders that make our Association the effective voice that it is for the commercial construction industry.

WORKFORCE INITIATIVES MBI-WORKS Endowment The MBI-WORKS Endowment is being used to provide financial assistance through a grant solicitation process to programs and projects focused on increasing the number of people entering the commercial construction workforce and increasing the awareness of the commercial construction industry and the career opportunities available in it. The Endowment has also undertaken partnering efforts with schools to enhance their respective construction and industrial arts curricula. The Endowment is interested in attracting in-kind support from MBI members to complement local and regional recruitment and career advocacy efforts, while also leveraging additional resources to increase exposure to construction careers.
$180K+ AWARDED IN 2020 FROM ENDOWMENT
In its inaugural year, the Endowment received 16 applications and directly funded three projects in the amount of $68,000. The Endowment Board also identified three additional projects that sought investment from the Des Moines Construction Council and Master Builders of Iowa. All told for 2019, the Endowment collectively provided $180,500 for the six projects and leveraged $327,354 in cash matching funds and $363,740 of in-kind support. The following projects were the 2020 MBI-WORKS Award Recipients:
MBI Member: Cardinal Construction Endowment Partner: The Waterloo Career Center
$871K+ FUNDS & IN-KIND SUPPORT FOR WORKFORCE INITIATIVES
Waterloo, Iowa Award: $23,000 The focus of this project is to increase student engagement through the Waterloo Career Center by partnering with a local non-profit community organization, Block by Block, to construct small sheds which will provide a secure place for families to store outdoor items on their property. The sheds are then donated through Block by Block. The funds are being used to purchase supplies and materials for the sheds. Programming began in the Fall 2020 when students returned to the classroom.

WORKFORCE INITIATIVES MBI Member: Kingland Construction Endowment Partner: The Forest City YMCA AfterSchool Program Forest City, Iowa Award: $30,000 The focus of this project is to support an introduction to beginner-level carpentry and beginner-level mechanics programming to engage a demographic that currently lacks extracurricular activities in the community. The funds are being used to purchase supplies and a trailer to initiate the program. The programs through the YMCA that are being supported with Endowment funds include Bridge Builders Jr, Garage Keepers and Grease Monkeys Jr. and will primarily attract 1st-4th grade students. Bridge Builders Jr. will design, build, and test balsa wood bridges. The objective of this program is to teach the youth how to read and implement building plans, give them an introduction to the design process, address load distribution within structures, expose participants to the various materials used to build different types of structures, and provide an opportunity for experience building a load-bearing structure. Garage Keepers will teach individuals how to maintain equipment on the newly acquired STEM trailer. This program’s learning objective is to get hands-on experience learning what maintenance needs are conducted on equipment, how to perform the maintenance, shop safety and how to work with small hand tools. Grease Monkeys Jr. will teach kids hand and power tools operations to disassemble and reassemble parts of Kohler lawnmower engines. The objective of this program is to introduce youth to shop safety, expose them to various hand tools and how to use them, and to educate them on the parts of an engine and what they do. Master Builders will have participants frame realistic 1/16 scale houses using balsa wood. The houses are assembled following construction techniques and architectural concepts, as well as realistic building plans in accordance with the International Building Code. Programing for Bridge Builders Jr. was able to start hosting classes on July 13, 2020.

ESSENTIAL RESOURCE FOR IMPROVING MEMBER PERFORMANCE Education and Training - Developing Industry Leaders! Through the years, as the commercial construction industry continues to evolve, members of Master Builders of Iowa have been able to keep pace with the changes and challenges that have come along the way‌and in some cases, even set the pace. Master Builders of Iowa is honored to be able to play a role in the development of employees and the improvement of processes within the industry through our wide array of educational offerings attended by MBI members firms who are consistently working to improve. Thankfully, Master Builders of Iowa has an excellent sounding board in the Education Advocacy Committee who advises MBI staff to assure we are continually improving program delivery and content, while assuring MBI member firms have access to top-shelf presenters. Just three months into the year, the COVID-19 pandemic shut down MBI’s training season including cancellation of our BIM Education Program, Lean Construction Education Program, Safety & Environmental Workshop, and our inaugural Executive Leadership Retreat. We were, however, able to complete all five of our leadership development programs prior to state and federal mandated shut-downs. Throughout the next several pages, you will read about all of the programs held over the past year including leadership development, training on demand, stand-alone training and the Annual Winter Conference.

ESSENTIAL RESOURCE FOR IMPROVING MEMBER PERFORMANCE Annual Winter Conference The MBI Winter Conference is the annual staple event for the Association where the entire membership is encouraged to join industry colleagues for education, awards, networking and much more. The 2020 conference that was held February 24 - 26 at Prairie Meadows in Altoona was well attended with close to 1,500 participating in the three-day event as well as sold out exhibitor space, awards events, and breakout sessions. A portion of the conference that many attendees look forward to is the high-level, entertaining, and informative keynote speakers who are featured at the various award ceremonies held in conjunction with the conference. At the 2020 conference, attendees were treated to speeches by Author, Speaker and Motivator Kevin Brown; Best Selling Author and Attention Expert, Curt Steinhorst; and the hilarious Business Growth Expert, Jeff Havens. The Annual Winter Conference is an enormous project that takes a great deal of coordination and we would like to thank all of the industry volunteers, sponsors, and exhibitors who contributed their time, ideas and resources to putting on another first-class conference!

ESSENTIAL RESOURCE FOR IMPROVING MEMBER PERFORMANCE The Leadership Experience Over the past eight years, The Leadership Experience has served as the pinnacle of leadership development for many employees of MBI member firms. The 2019-20 series that was led by David Rabiner, Rabiner Resources focused on the topics of Communication, Collaboration, Culture, and Customer. Throughout the four sessions, the group was challenged and motivated through small group activities, role playing, and projects. In addition to the program content, the sold-out group of 20 attendees was given the opportunity to participate in a one-on-one private coaching session with Executive Coach, David Rabiner. This private coaching session allowed for discussion of class content or any challenges that the attendee wanted to discuss while allowing participants to gain personal insights from David.

ESSENTIAL RESOURCE FOR IMPROVING MEMBER PERFORMANCE Project Managers and Project Supervisors A High Performing Leadership Series The Project Managers and Project Supervisors series is a unique program that encourages member firms to enroll a project manager and field superintendent to not only learn together, but to also gain a better understanding of how each other acts, reacts, and handles given situations. There is no debate that project managers and field leaders are “wired” differently...but they have to work together at a high level in order for a project to be successful. The 2020 series attracted 34 individuals who attended the four days of training split between Iowa City and Des Moines. The program kicked off in Iowa City where the group was treated to two excellent seminars delivered by seasoned presenter Ethan Cowles, FMI Corporation delivering “Achieving Maximum Job Profits” and “Building and Implementing a Plan to Improve Productivity and Operational Excellence”. The following week, the group met in Ankeny for “Taking Safety from the Office to the Job Site: What to Say and Do to Demonstrate Commitment” presented by Todd Efird, Caterpillar Safety, “Communication for Connection, Not Control” by Alan Feirer, Group Dynamic, and ‘Innovative Planning and Scheduling to Meet Project Demands” by Larry Cormicle, Cormicle Consulting Services, LLC.

ESSENTIAL RESOURCE FOR IMPROVING MEMBER PERFORMANCE WORKSAFE The WORKSAFE program maintains its status as a unique partnership between MBI and Iowa OSHA Consultation. Few if any programs rival this sort of cooperation between the regulator and that of the regulated. MBI is proud to say that since its inception in 2012, over 780 projects have been enrolled in the WORKSAFE program by over 150 different firms. For many of these contractors WORKSAFE has become an integral part of their process and a component that is incorporated into most of their projects. We thank all the contractors and owners who believe in the benefits it provides to a construction site.
SINCE 2012
700+ PROJECTS ENROLLED IN WORKSAFE
For 2020, CSSI (MBI’s Preferred Safety Provider) enrolled 75 projects into the program, conducted 113 job site audits, with detailed reports on each audit, convene and presented close to 60 WORKSAFE PreConstruction Safety Reviews commonly referred to as “Kick-Off” Meetings. These meetings have identified countless hazardous activities and resulted in best practices being determined and a plan of action being developed and distributed to all contractors on the project.
160
COMPANIES HAVE ENROLLED IN WORKSAFE
Many companies will expand to higher number of visits than what the basic WORKSAFE program offers which allows for additional data collection from CSSI’s auditing software based on more frequent oversight of the project. In 2020 - The largest contracted visit for a WORKSAFE project with a general contractor was for 29 visits for the duration of the project!
Mark Wieland – Safety Consultant and WORKSAFE Manager Mark Wieland recently joined MBI and the CSSI team as a Safety Consultant and WORKSAFE Manager. Mark brings to the team a long history of work in the safety industry with extensive experience and technical skills in providing loss control and safety services to a wide variety of clients. Mark’s extensive background includes safety supervision and management for an Iowa-based commercial general contractor. He also has experience as a loss control consultant with a workers’ compensation company and most recently as a risk management specialist with a Des Moines-based general liability insurance company. Mark also has proudly served our country as a combat engineer in the United States Marine Corps. Having job site experience both from the contractor’s perspective as well as risk and loss control responsibilities from that of the insurance industry, Mark is uniquely qualified to bring a different perspective to CSSI clients on job site safety. Mark’s skill set nicely complements that of the current CSSI team members – Brandon Black and Michael Messer. Together, these safety pros make up Iowa’s premiere safety consultant services for the commercial construction industry.

ESSENTIAL RESOURCE FOR IMPROVING MEMBER PERFORMANCE MBI Member Referral Program In 2020, a conscious effort was made to place more value on MBI member recruitment with a big piece of that being the MBI Member Referral Program. This program was launched in February 2020 at the Annual Winter Conference and stems from a genuine belief that more companies within MBI’s network equates to a stronger commercial building industry for all involved. The program is based on individual and company awards, as well as impressive discounts for the companies being referred. Rewards include $50 gift cards for individuals who successfully refer an Associate MBI Member, and $150 gift cards for individuals successfully referring a General Contractor MBI Member. In addition, the company with the most referrals throughout the year will receive a yearend reward of either a 32-person VIP suite at an Iowa Wild hockey game or $1,500 towards a company lunch provided by MBI. Furthermore, when you refer a company to MBI, that company receives either a 20% discount on their first year of membership dues (Associate Members) or $300 off their initial dues amount (General Contractor Members). These discounts were designed to help current MBI members recommend a strong value proposition to the companies in their network. With more members, and more participation, MBI is able to enhance every one of our many service offerings. This could be a wider array of educational offerings, more influence at the Iowa Capitol on issues affecting our industry, additional workforce recruitment opportunities for members, more networking events to grow your business, better rates on insurance plans, and a variety of other items.

ESSENTIAL RESOURCE FOR IMPROVING MEMBER PERFORMANCE The Bidding Network Like every other part of the commercial building industry, project information collection has taken on drastic changes over the years but MBI’s Construction Update is running stronger than ever. 2020 has been a year of relationship building and we move into 2021 with lasting relationships in all corners of the industry from contractors to design professionals to owners. In addition, we solidified a two-decade (and counting) partnership with ConstructConnect that will last for many years to come and provide users in the Iowa market with first-class project information services. Construction Update’s Project Information Specialists, in conjunction with ConstructConnect, aggregated information on more than 4,000 projects in 2020 and distributed that information to more than 4,500 individuals with more than 1,250 companies. As we progress forward into 2021, there are already plans in place to continue our relationship-building success with multiple collaboration-style events planned between contractors and the design community.

UFG Partnership Creates Additional Value to MBI Members UFG Insurance and MBI have a strong history of partnering in safety. Since 2014, UFG Insurance and MBI have worked under an agreement to provide and promote an exclusive property and casualty program to MBI members. The program allows participating members to be eligible for a safety group dividend, which includes all lines of business, with the exception of workers’ compensation coverage. During late third quarter, MBI was provided information on an announcement by the UFG Board of Directors that they would be paying a dividend of 3.5% to policy holders from the calendar year 2019. This came as exciting news to us at MBI as this is the first time since its inception that the program was able to pay a dividend. MBI is thrilled about the dividend notice and appreciates its partnership with UFG Insurance. Congratulations to all involved in the program for making safety a priority!

PROMOTING A BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT FAVORABLE TO THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY Public Affairs Program With our Mission Statement as a guide, MBI’s lobbying team maintained a constant presence at the Iowa Capitol each and every day during the 2020 Legislative Session. Like everything this year, COVID-19 presented new challenges at the Capitol unlike ever before. Session was delayed on March 16, returned on June 3 after the summer primary election, and then adjourned quickly in a marathon sprint on June 11. Social distancing and public health measures prevented direct lobbying to legislators which presented a ton of challenges in those final 8 days.
$208K+ PAC FUNDS SPENT SUPPORTING STATE OFFICE CANDIDATES
Here’s a quick recap of our legislative priorities and other issues that were addressed in the 2020 Legislative Session.
Construction Manager At-Risk (CMaR) Legislation Position Before Session: MBI will be introducing legislation that will allow the Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) delivery for the first time in the public sector. Result: The Iowa Senate demonstrated their strong support of MBI’s pursuit and approved the legislation by a vote of 29-20. Unfortunately, the session adjourned before the Iowa House approved the legislation meaning that it did not advance to the Governor’s desk. We are very disappointed that this critical piece of legislation was not approved. Construction groups, public owners and other key stakeholders recognize the need for an alternative option like CMaR and we will continue to push until we make overdue changes to Iowa’s public bidding laws.
Secure Full Funding for the University of Iowa Industrial Technology Center (UNI ITC) Position Before Session: Fully secure the funding needed to complete the renovation and expansion of the UNI ITC. Result: Full funding for the UNI ITC was approved in this year’s budget. We are very excited to know that this project will finally come to fruition. The funding breakdown is as follows:
$40.5M+ SECURED FOR UNI ITC
FY 2020-2021: $1,000,000 (for design work) FY 2021-2022: $13,000,000 FY 2022-2023: $18,000,000 FY 2023-2024: $8,500,000 Total: $40,500,000

PROMOTING A BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT FAVORABLE TO THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY Reauthorization of the Iowa Reinvestment Act Originally approved in 2013, the Iowa Legislature approved a program under which new sales tax revenues could be used to generate up to $100 million in economic building activity to complete projects like the Iowa River Landing Reinvestment District, the Iowa Convention and Entertainment Reinvestment District, Mason City Downtown River City Renaissance, Muscatine Reinvestment District, Sioux City Reinvestment District, City of Waterloo TechWorks Campus Reinvestment District and the Grinnell Historic Downtown and Campus Confluence. This successful program was reauthorized this year, whereby new sales tax revenues can be used up to an additional $100 million until July 1, 2025. This will spur economic activity all across the state and is a responsible way of demonstrating what can be accomplished with creative economic development solutions.
Strong Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund (RIIF) Bill Under very tough COVID-19 economic conditions, whereby the RIIF bill receives all of its money from casino-generated revenue, lawmakers thankfully demonstrated restraint from using these funds for purposes other than vertical infrastructure. These funds are by law to be used for vertical infrastructure needs. While no RIIF bill ever fully follows the law in our opinion, MBI has long advocated that lawmakers prioritize vertical infrastructure needs and we were happy they did this again this year. Some of the highlights include the UNI ITC project funding mentioned on the previous page, $5 million for community attraction and tourism projects, vertical infrastructure improvement projects at commercial and general aviation airports, changing the funding but prioritizing full funding to complete the Iowa State University Student Innovation Center and Veterinary Diagnostic Lab projects, and a long-term commitment equal to meeting the state’s $100 million appropriation for major maintenance needs over 5 years.
Support Future Ready Iowa Funding This legislation continues and expands on Future Ready Iowa that MBI has long supported. Future Ready Iowa sets the ambitious goal of 70 percent of our state’s workforce having education or training beyond high school by the year 2025. Currently, over 60% of our workforce ages 25 to 64 does. Closing this gap is critical to help more Iowans launch rewarding careers and help employers hire the skilled workers they need to grow. This legislation: • expands the Apprenticeship Opportunities Program; • creates the Iowa Child Care Challenge Fund to encourage businesses and others to build and increase the availability of child care; and, • establishes requirements for K-12 computer science education over the next several years.

AWARDS, RECOGNITION, AND SCHOLARSHIP Awards Every year at the Annual Winter Conference, MBI recognizes companies, teams and individuals for their accomplishments and excellence in the Iowa commercial construction industry. The awards programs are a celebration of our industry and everything that has been achieved over the previous twelve months. These prestigious awards provide some of the most effective platforms for leading companies to maximize their industry exposure for excelling in the Iowa construction industry and MBI takes great pride in recognizing these individual and organizational achievements. 2020 Build Iowa Award Since its inception in 1989, there have been 34 individuals bestowed with the Build Iowa Award. These individuals symbolize the leaders of not only MBI, but Iowa’s construction industry and the communities in which they do business. The Build Iowa Award recipient exemplifies the tenets of our organization . . . skill, integrity and responsibility. The 2020 award was presented to Jim Russell, Russell Construction Co., Inc. at the newly formed Build Iowa Dinner. Jim served on the MBI Board of Directors for four years and was the Board Chairman in 2013. He has served as an MBI representative on the Iowa Construction Industry Forum and has lent his perspective as a member of the Government Affairs Committee in helping shape MBI’s policy efforts. He has also helped raise funds for the MBI Scholarship program, has been a consistent contributor to the MBI-PAC 750 Club, as well as serving on a special task force focusing on leadership development. Beyond his industry involvement, Jim holds dearly to a philosophy of giving back. Not only does he insist that those within his company give back, he leads by example in his ways of giving to Jim Russell the community in which he lives, works and plays. He devotes Russell Construction Co., Inc. much of his “spare time” to supporting and volunteering with 2020 Build Iowa Award Recipient various charitable and community organizations, including United Way of the Quad Cities, Junior Achievement of the Heartland, Scott County Family Y, the Figge Art Museum and the Quad City Chamber of Commerce.

AWARDS, RECOGNITION, AND SCHOLARSHIP MBI Scholarships – Supporting Future Leaders Each year Master Builders of Iowa provides financial support by way of scholarships to deserving students in the Construction Engineering program at Iowa State University as well as the Construction Management program at the University of Northern Iowa. Typically, interested students are asked to complete a scholarship application and attend an interview with members of the MBI Scholarship and Academic Advisory Committee. However, as a result of COVID-19, interviews were not able to be held so students were judged solely on their submitted application. The committee exhibits the long-held belief of the Master Builders of Iowa membership that attracting the most talented students, coupled with the strong support of our education institutions and their respective construction related programs will ensure the vitality of our industry for generations to come. The following students were awarded a scholarship through the MBI scholarship process for the 2020-21 academic year.

This event continues to attract a wide array of our membership—but mostly individuals who are more comfortable around a 12 gauge than a 9 iron. However, we do attract fans of both. The number of teams participating this year was STRONG. We think people were ready to get outside and actually hold something in-person, knowing that the outdoor nature of this event lends itself to a safe environment. We had gorgeous weather both days to shoot. Besides bragging rights, we again gave out individual trophies to the winners who also got to take the coveted traveling trophy home. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we had some excellent door prizes and raffle prizes for our shooters. Congratulations to this year’s 1st place teams: Central Iowa:

CONNECTING THE INDUSTRY 21st Construction Golf Classic & Smoker As hard as it is to believe still, our most popular MBI-PAC event of the year, the Construction Golf Classic & Smoker, was unfortunately cancelled. We can’t even blame COVID-19 on this one. We just happened to have planned this event during a land-based category 3 hurricane, later named the derecho. Luckily, we were able to get everyone to safety prior to the storm hitting. And while this one was certainly a memorable event, the incredible support of our sponsors and participants allowed us to benefit the MBI-PAC in other ways.

CONNECTING THE INDUSTRY MBI Launches YBuilder Network in 2020 This year, we launched the first ever young professional network within the commercial construction industry known as the YBuilder Network. YBuilder stands for Young Builders Unite In Linking, Developing and Enhancing Relationships. YBuilders are a group of young dynamic, enthusiastic and eager individuals who are connected to the commercial building industry and are looking for networking opportunities to attach a “face to that email. We recognize that our industry does a poor job of offering networking opportunities for young professionals and it is our belief that this group made up of contractors, architects & designers, and others within the Iowa commercial building industry are able to change that perception. We were able to hold different social events in the Spring and Fall of 2020 with a networking workshop scheduled for February 2021 at the Annual Winter Conference. We were excited for the momentum of this group in the first year and believe this will yield many advantages for its members in the years to come.

MBI-PAC 750 CLUB MBI-PAC’s Highest Contributor Recognition For many years, MBI has formally recognized those individuals who have contributed $750 in a calendar year to the MBI-PAC. The 750 Club was modeled off a $5 contribution per member of the Iowa Legislature (100 House members and 50 Senate members). While we can never say “thankyou” enough for your leadership in contributing to the PAC, it is important that we recognize these individuals to show members of the Iowa Legislature how strong our association’s interests are. For 2020, we have 77 members in the 750 Club, equating to raising more than $57,750 for the MBI-PAC.

MBI PAC
New to MBI, the 250 Club is an exclusive group of MBI-PAC supporters that are likely to be the next generation of construction industry leaders. Similar to the long-established 750 Club, MBI wishes to begin engaging those individuals in our overall legislative efforts to continually improve the industry. After all, these are the future decision-makers. Anyone who contributes $250 will be deemed a member of the 250 Club and will be recognized through different MBI publications, as well as the annual winter conference in February. For 2020, we have 35 members in the 250 Club, equating to $8,750 for the MBI-PAC.

MBI COMMITTEES & TASK FORCES Leadership Pool The purpose of the leadership pool is to recruit interested volunteers from member firms who would make themselves available to serve on task forces to help achieve specific association or industry objectives. Compared to standing committees who meet throughout the year on a regularly scheduled basis, task force participants recruited from the leadership pool are informed ahead of time as to the nature of the task, the estimated number of meetings anticipated and the objectives to be accomplished. Upon completion of the specific tasks or objectives, the volunteers then return to the leadership pool until another request stirs their interest, offers a special learning opportunity or falls within their area of expertise. THANK YOU 2020 SPONSORS Master Builders of Iowa holds many events each year that provide unique opportunities to participants and sponsors alike. From an industry standpoint, you will be hard pressed to find a better opportunity to network with construction colleagues than the many programs offered by MBI. Likewise, from a sponsorship perspective, companies involved in the “business of construction” will find ample ways to make contacts with clients and mix business and pleasure. Furthermore, as a sponsor to an MBI event you will see a great return on investment with the comprehensive advertising packages that come with most sponsorships. Below is a list of companies that sponsored MBI events in 2020. An asterisk (*) indicates that the company is an Essential Partner of MBI.
