Jim Tsang of Innova Architects created a design for the clients and asked that I work with him to develop the house for construction. Our expertise in custom home design and great small team equipped us to more efficiently work out the technical details for permitting and construction. We were able to work with Dan Martin and Stefanie Brooks to bring together an amazing interior of custom wood beams, Montana stone and steel stairs and railings. The home has a wonderful Pacific Northwest lodge feel. Everything is substantial and timeless. I am sure that our clients will have decades of wonderful memories. WINDSWEPT WEATHERED WOOD I first became involved in the project around the 1-1/2 year mark after meeting w Daniel Martin Construction, Bret Drager Architect along with the home owners. We met at a previous single-family home construction in Gig Harbor, WA that, also utilized our Windswept Weathered Wood in the Prairie color as well. It was a match made in heaven for both clients, thus the saga began! I recall stepping onto the job site for the first time; construction had been framed out to the point where the siding element was the next exterior agenda item to be installed. Careful consideration by Daniel Martin Construction (DMC) at every level was researched and discussed to achieve the final appearance desired. DMC incorporated colored screws as the fastener as the ideal choice for this project. Once installation of the Windswept siding began was the moment when the exterior of the construction truly took on a life of its own. Thus complimenting perfectly with the stone and dark, rich colors of the Douglas fir timbers, etc. The home owners were very hands on throughout the project, so every detail and nuance was paid special attention for just the right ethos and desired appearance. I would actually create opportunities to visit the job site just to be a part of something so remarkable within our regional geography alongside the architectural and design community as something uniquely remarkable~
WINDSWEPT WEATHERED WOOD We have helped to generate a new category of environmental sustainability in that we claim unused, unwanted virgin standing dead (or dying) timber that otherwise would be carbon released into the atmosphere.
