DIRECTIONS TO USE: 1) Cold: Pour the content of the sachet into the bottle, pour 300 ml of water, shake thoroughly. We advise adding a few drops of lemon or syrup (elderberry, maracuja, mango, caramel...). 2) Hot: Shake the content of the sachet in the bottle with 2 dl of water (max. 70 °C). A few drops of lemon and a spoon of honey will create great flavour.

800 years of evolution, a decade of revolution In 1191, green tea (and matcha) drinking was introduced in Japan by Zen master Eisai, who was planting tea while travelling the country. In his book Kissa Yojoki he wrote: “Tea is an unrivalled natural medicine for body and soul.

Wherever the tea starts to grow, long life follows.” From this moment, matcha became the “secret medicine” of Buddhist monks and the Imperial court.

How matcha tastes? It has a strong and plant-like taste. Some would say it resembles spinach, others grass, and some say it is like umami (the fifth taste). The taste depends on the grade of the green tea and its origin. There are many low-quality imitations of the genuine Japanese matcha. The secret weapon of the samurai In the 16th century, a new dimension of tea drinking was discovered by another Zen master, Sen-no-Rikyu, who developed the tea ceremony. This highly sophisticated drinking of tea strongly influenced the perception of the Japanese tea in the West. The tea that is used in these ceremonies is matcha. The popularity of tea ceremonies caused matcha to be popular among the samurai, too.

The resulting tea should be reasonably thick, smooth and without froth.

DIRECTIONS TO USE 1. Preheat the matcha bowl (chawan) – fill it with hot water about 1/3 full. Then place the bamboo whisk (chasen) facing down into the hot water to wet the tips of prongs. Once chawan is thoroughly preheated, pour out the water and dry it out preferably with a cloth such as a chakin. Measure 70 ml of water for usucha / 40 ml for koicha into a measuring cup and leave it to cool. 2. Use the bamboo scoop (chashaku) to measure matcha (2 scoops for usucha, 3–4 scoops for koicha), and place it into chawan. 3. Once the water’s temperature drops to 70 °C, pour it into chawan. 4. Take chasen in one hand and hold the rim of chawan with your other hand. For usucha, whisk matcha briskly in the “M” motion using your wrist until matcha has a thick froth with many tiny bubbles on its surface. For koicha, a slower kneading action from left to right, up and down, and a gentle 360° rotating action can be used to make a thick consistency. NUTRITION FACTS 100 g
