Rematerialize! exhibition in Denmark The 22nd of November 2007, the exhibition Rematerialize of Material Sense, travelled to Viborg in Denmark. Invited by the company Scan:ID the exhibition was presented in the new building of the “In-store design company�. During the seminar on the 23rd, Material Sense highlighted some of the presented materials and new developments in the lecture. The seminar paid attention to the importance of total experience in shop- and in store design. The Danish speakers talked about experience as seen from the scope of light and lightning, and of sound and film. Material Sense completed with a lecture about the role of materials for the physical experience.

Materials Meets people in Kortrijk, Belgium Material Sense was invited by BUDA Kortrijk to present a selection of materials for the network meeting BUDA Libre. The visitors worn white collars presenting their name and a materials message, to get in contact with each other and the materials. The successful gathering took place at the nice ambiance of the new bar at the Museum island Kortrijk in Belgium.

Material Sense at Jiangsu, China At the beginning of September, the exhibition “Brainport Highlights Design” took place at Nanjing in China. Material Sense presented a selection of materials around the theme of light, as part of the travelling exhibition that represented the highlights of design from Brainport Region. The exhibition was part of the Noord-Brabant Trade Mission; a delegation of governors, trade and industry, guided by Queens commissioner of the Province Mrs Maij Weggen. From 9-16 September 2007 design from Brainport region met China. In a special match-making program, arranged meetings took place with Chinese companies and designers. Future contact were set-up for Material Sense.

Chinese company visits After Nanjing, the trip was continued via Wuxi and Yangzou to Shanghai. The group of designers and entrepreneurs brought visits to companies and manufacturers. We’ve seen, amongst others, the production of textile printing, wood furniture production and a traditional lacquer factory. A wonderful experience, full of inspiration and inspiring meetings.

Materials inspiration at Food for Future During the Dutch Design Week, the seminar “Food for Future” took place in Helmond. Simone de Waart was invited as speaker by Food Connection Point and Design Connection. Newly developed food concepts were presented and the lectures gave insight in future possibilities for food industries. After lectures by Van Rijsingen Frozen food, The Restaurant of the Future from Wageningen University, SVT Branding from Amsterdam, Simone closes off with the lecture “Food, ingredient for inspiration and innovation”.To trigger industry making use of new materials, and find a new way of looking at color and texture of our daily life food products. (The picture showed the ingredients of company Huijbregts). The experience was completed with the buffet of food designer Annelies Hermsen in cooperation with Maison van den Boer.
