Responsive by Material Sense at CeBIT The new exhibition “Responsive” kicked off successfully at CeBIT, worlds largest ict and communication fair at Hannover. “Responsive” took part in the presentation “Design Driving Innovation” organized by iF and the special selection around interactive materials and technologies attracted great attention by the visitors. Follow up presentations of Responsive The entire exhibition Responsive will move on to new locations and will be showcased at this years Hannover Messe from 20 – 24 April. In Hall 5, Material Sense will take part in “ Material Trends 2009”, organized bij iF. Exhibitors will be surprised by the materials that focuses on materials and developments in materials that are somehow influenced by changes in their environment, e.g. light, sound, temperature, or by interaction with the human body. “Responsive is showing a wonderful collection of adaptive materials that we will be seeing a lot more of in the future,” At Material Trends the winners of the current iF material award 2009 will be announced and presented. Simone de Waart, creative director of Material Sense was invited to join the international expert jury. Invited by the Dutch Embassy, Responsive will be seen at Berlin in the inspiring building designed by Rem Koolhaas from 25th of May – 7th of June. During this period the Embassy will organise a Dutch-German materials seminar in collaboration with the innovation program M2i. During the Berlin Designweek (DMY) the exhibition Responsive is included as side event in the DMY program and Material Sense will organise a materials workshop. Lecture by Simone de Waart at the Sustainable Conference Tallinn 1 ∙ newsletter spring 2009 material sense
The Estonian Design Centre invited Simone to lecture on the challenges for designers for sustainable materials usage, amongst speakers from Tallinn University (about Nano technology), Karen Blincoe from IDIS (about Ethical design), NCS (about the Natural color system) and designer Reet Aus (on reusable clothing for theatre and fashion). Tallinn will be cultural capital in 2011 and announced their international competition on design for sustainable souvenirs.
