Club Atlético Lomas ¿Quienes somos?
Who are we?
Somos miembros del equipo de hockey masculino del club Lomas Athletic, que anhelando la posibilidad de realizar una gira, y motivados por el mundial de hockey que se disputará en La Haya, Holanda, se propuso llevar este proyecto adelante.
We are members of the men’s hockey team of the Lomas Athletic Club, who where longing for the possibility of a tour, and motivated by the hockey world cup which is going to be held in The Hague, Netherlands, we proposed to take this project forward.
La última gira deportiva de un equipo masculino de hockey del Club fue en el año 1993. En dicha ocasión el plantel viajó a Inglaterra para disputar una serie de partidos amistosos.
The last sport trip of the male´s team club was in 1993. The trip was to England where some friendly matches were placed.
Sólo un jugador del actual plantel de caballeros formó parte de ese viaje. El resto del equipo solo escuchaba anécdotas y pensaba en vivirlas en primera persona. Por eso siempre estuvo presente la idea de organizar una nueva gira deportiva. El año pasado finalmente se le dio forma al proyecto y comenzamos con la organización y recaudación a cargo exclusivamente del plantel y su cuerpo técnico. La delegación estará compuesta por 24 jugadores, 3 miembros del cuerpo técnico y un dirigente.
Out of the present team only one player was part of that last trip. The rest of the team has listened the stories of that experience and they have thought to live them in person. That is why the idea of organizing a new trip was always present. Last year we decided to start the project so we began with the organization, which was done by the players and coaching staff. The delegation will be composed of 24 players and 3 members of the coaching staff.

Un poco de historia History
C
uando el ferrocarril llegó al sur del gran Buenos Aires, los inmigrantes ingleses llegaron con el. Ellos fueron quienes el 15 de Marzo de 1891 fundaron la institución deportiva a la que bautizaron Lomas Athletic Club. Ubicado siempre en los alrededores de la zona céntrica de la ciudad de Lomas de Zamora, el club se destacó rápidamente en hockey, cricket, rugby, fútbol, tenis y golf. El actual predio de la sede situado en la calle Arenales, donde se encuentra la cancha de hockey, se adquirió en 1897 y posteriormente se compraron los predios de la Unión Ferroviaria donde actualmente se encuentra el campo de golf y la sede de Longchamps. Es interesante destacar que Lomas Athletic Club fue campeón de los primeros 5 campeonatos del fútbol argentino. Sin embargo, con el tiempo este deporte dejó de practicarse y el club tomó protagonismo en sus otras actividades.
W
hen the railway arrived to the south of Buenos Aires, the British inmigrants came with it. They were the ones who founded on March 15th of 1891 the sportive institution called Lomas Athletic Club. The institution excelled quickly in hockey, rugby, football, tennis and golf. It has been always situated around the center of Lomas de Zamora but the present location (bought in 1897) is in Arenales street, where the clubhouse and the hockey pitch is located. Later the club bought the site in Unión Ferroviaria where the golf court is situated and the lands in Longchamps where there are more rugby and hockey fields. It is interesting to remark that Lomas Athletic Club won the first 5 tournaments of the Argentinian Football Federation. However, over time football was no longer practiced and the club took center stage in its other activities.
El hockey sobre césped es el deporte que más gloria le ha dado a la institución, siendo además socio fundador de la Asociación Argentina de Hockey. El equipo femenino se ha consagrado campeón en 17 oportunidades y es el más ganador de la historia de este deporte. Ha contado con más de 20 jugadoras en la selección nacional ganadoras de mundiales y medallas olímpicas.
Field hockey es the sport that more glory has given to the institution, also being cofounder cofounder of the Argentinian Hockey Association. The female team has won 17 championships, being the most winning team in history. More than 20 players have been part of the national team and some of them have won world cups and Olympic medals.
El equipo de caballeros de hockey consiguió en el año 2002 el ascenso a la máxima categoría y a partir de ese momento, año a año ha ido superando su desempeño en el torneo metropolitano, llegando a disputar los playoffs en varias ocasiones.
The male hockey team achieved the promotion to the top division of the tournament on 2002 and since that year it has improved its performance in the metropolitan tournament over the years, reaching the playoffs several times in the past few years.
El reflejo de esta superación constante y del excelente momento por el cual está atravesando el equipo fue la alegría y el orgullo de tener a dos de nuestros jugadores, Agustín Mazzilli y Santiago Montelli, representándonos en los últimos Juegos Olímpicos de Londres. En las próximas semanas además Agustín también disputará el Mundial de Hockey en La Haya.
The reflection of this constant improvement and the excellent moment which the team is going through was the joy and pride to have two of our players, Agustin Mazzilli and Santiago Montelli, representing us at the last Olympic Games in London. In the coming weeks also, Agustin is going to represent us again in the World Cup of Hockey to be disputed en The Hague.

aldremos de Buenos aires el 30 de Mayo y regresaremos el 16 de Junio, recorriendo varias ciudades europeas donde enfrentaremos distintos equipos.
he trip will start on May 30th and finish on June 16th. We will visit several European cities where we will face different hockey teams.
BRUSELAS: La capital belga será el puerto de entrada a Europa donde nos quedaremos 2 días visitando la ciudad y recuperándonos del largo vuelo.
BRUSSELS: The Belgium capital will be the entry port to Europe where we will stay 2 days visiting the city and recovering from the long flight.
AMSTERDAM: Aquí nos quedaremos 5 días, ya que aprovecharemos para ver algún partido de Agustín junto al resto del seleccionado en el mundial de hockey, y tendremos 2 partidos amistosos contra el Den Bosch.
AMSTERDAM: Here we will stay 5 days. We will have the opportunity to watch Agustin and the rest of the National Squad playing in the Hockey World Cup and we will also play 2 matches against Den Bosch.
HAMBURGO: En la ciudad alemana participaremos de un torneo internacional de 4 días junto a otros 9 equipos organizado por el club TTK Sachsenwald.
HAMBURG: In the German city we will compete in an international tournament of 4 days with another 9 teams, that is organizad by the TTK Sachsenwald Hockey Club.
BARCELONA: Esta es la ciudad donde se encuentran la mayoría de los clubes de hockey de España. Aquí nos quedaremos otros 5 días y tendremos partidos contra el Egara, subcampeón del torneo 2013/2014 y contra el Atletic Terrasa.
BARCELONA: This is the city where most of the Spanish hockey clubs are situated. We will play against Atletic Terrassa and Egara, which played the final match of the 2013/2014 season.

“Lalo” Junquet The Coach Hace muchos años que estás relacionado con el hockey, primero como jugador y desde hace tiempo como entrenador. Es indudable que este deporte estuvo muy presente a lo largo de tu vida ¿Qué significa para vos el hockey? Para mí el hockey es una forma de vida, conocí a mi esposa por el hockey, mis hijos juegan y paso los 7 días de la semana entrenando. Como jugador y entrenador formaste parte de diferentes giras deportivas, desde tus experiencia: ¿Cuáles consideras que fueron las más especiales y por que? ¿Qué diferencias hay entre participar de una gira como jugador a realizarlo como entrenador? La gira que más recuerdo como jugador fue con GEBA a Europa, yo tenía 19 años y fue una experiencia deportiva y de vida increíble, 54 días por toda Europa jugando 35 partidos. Como entrenador fue con Olivos en el 92, 30 días también viajando por Europa y jugando pero con 28 jugadoras. Las diferencias como jugador es que uno viaja relajado, con su equipo, con sus amigos y es todo para disfrutar. Como entrenador tenes la responsabilidad de la organización durante la gira (partidos, tiempo libre, horarios, comidas etc) que todo salga bien en lo deportivo y lo grupal.
al hockey del club actualmente, cómo lo ves a futuro y qué herramientas consideras que sean necesarias para lograr un mejor desarrollo? ¿Cuáles son tus expectativas en el club a corto y largo plazo en general y especialmente con el plantel masculino? Primero quiero agradecer esta posibilidad que me dio el club. Me siento muy a gusto trabajando con la sub-comisión y con los entrenadores. Por cuestiones personales del entrenador anterior me hice cargo del equipo A y las chicas están respondiendo muy bien, entrenan de una manera espectacular que motiva a cualquiera. Pero también hay que destacar el apoyo de todas las categorías y los entrenadores. Hoy estamos viviendo un clima soñado en cuanto a trabajo en equipo y un sentido de todo el hockey del club. El desafío que tenemos todos (dirigentes, entrenadores y jugadores) es poner al hockey femenino de LOMAS de vuelta en lo más alto, pero para esto hay que entender que el hockey cambió, que el mapa del hockey metropolitano también cambió y que las estrategias hoy son diferentes. Las potencias del hockey Argentino son GEBA y Ciudad que tienen cancha de agua y de arena. Con el plantel superior caballeros tenemos como objetivo entrar al playoff, el año pasado nos quedamos afuera por muy poco. Tengo la expectativa de que la gira nos sirva para después del receso del mundial y estemos en la mejor forma para el tramo final.
Este es tu tercer año con el plantel superior de Caballeros del Lomas Athletic Club y desde el primer momento consideraste que organizar una gira era posible ¿Por qué crees que se pudo llevar a cabo? ¿Cuáles son tus expectativas de la gira? ¿En que consideras que puede beneficiar al grupo? A todos los grupos que entreno trato de trasmitirles lo importante de una gira deportiva al exterior, yo lo viví muchas veces como jugador y son experiencias de vida que no te las olvidas más, conoces otros países, otras culturas y en lo deportivo siempre la idea es jugar en lugares con el mejor nivel competitivo posible para que nos permita seguir creciendo. El entusiasmo del equipo para la gira fue espectacular y lo demuestra todo lo que trabajaron para que se haga realidad en un momento de condiciones muy difíciles. Desde el año pasado estas cumpliendo el rol de coordinador general de hockey y este año también entrenador de la División A de Damas, permitiéndote tener una visión mas detallada y a su vez global del club ¿Qué análisis podes hacer en el aspecto social? ¿Cómo ves
You’ve been involved with hockey for a long time, as a player and as a coach. What does hockey mean to you? For me hockey is a way of living. I met my wife because of hockey, my sons play and I train 7 days a week with my teams. As player and coach you have participated in several sports tours. Which one do you remember most? Whats the diference between travelling as player or coach? The sports tour I remember the most was with GEBA to Europe. I was 19 years old so It was a great experience. We travel 54 days around all europe, we played 35 matches.
As a coach I remember travelling to Europe with Olivos Club in 1992. There were 30 days travelling with 28 ladies. As a player is more relaxed, you only care about enjoying with your friends. As a coach you have the responsability of the organization (matches, free time, Schedule) Everything has to be ok. This is your third year with the gentlemen’s team of Lomas Athletic Club. Why do you think this tour is possibe right now? What are your expectations for the trip? What are the benefits for the group? I try to convey to all my teams the importance of a sport tour abroad. The experiences you live in a trip like this are unforgetabble, you visit new countries, diferent cultures. Talking about sports the idea is to play against the best teams to keep learning. The team has been very enthusiastic about this trip. The players have worked a lot to make it possible in a very difficult moment for the country.
Nowadays you are the coordinator of the club and also the coach of the ladies A team. What do you think about the social aspects in the club? How do you see the hockey in the club? Which is its future? What things have to be done to improve? What are your expectations about the gentlemen’s team? First I want to thank the club for the opportunity. I feel very comfortable working with the trainers and leaders. The girls are training very well, they can motivate everybody. I have to highlight the support of all the divisions and coaches. Now there is a great atmosphere of teamwork. The challenge is to place again the ladies teams between the best ones. For that we have to accept that the situation now is different. The best clubs are GEBA and Ciudad, they have both water and sand pitches. With the gentlemen’s team the goal is to play the playoffs. Last year we were very close to do it. I expect that the tour would be a booster for the last part of the season.

gustín Mazzilli es jugador del club atlético Lomas de toda la vida y hace ya varios años que también lo hace para el equipo nacional de hockey. Entre todos los torneos que ha jugado están el pasado mundial y los últimos juegos olímpicos de Londres 2012. Ahora ya confirmado para el próximo mundial, espera hacer un buen papel junto al equipo. ¿Cuáles son los objetivos del equipo para el mundial? Nuestro objetivo es superar la mejor posición lograda en la historia por un seleccionado Argentino. La verdad que queremos meternos entre losseis mejores equipos del mundo. ¿Cuales son los tuyos a nivel personal?

gustín Mazzilli has played hockey for the Lomas Athletic Club all his life and he also does it for the hockey national team since many years now. Among all the tournaments he has played, there are the last hockey world cup and the London 2012 Olimpic Games. Confirmed for the next world cup, he espect to do a good role with the team. What are the team goals for the world cup? Our goal is to pass the highest position ever achieved by an Argentine team. Actually we want to get into the top six teams of the world. What are yours personally? Personally i want to improve my performance relative to past Olympic games and world cup.

What is the difference between this Agustin Mazzilli and the one who played last World Cup?
¿Que diferencia hay entre este AgustinMazzilli y el del mundial pasado?
The difference is mostly in the maturity of my game. In the last world cup i played as forward and in this process I’ve been playing midfielder that is where I feel more comfortable and confident.
La diferencia más que nada estáen la madurez de mijuego. En el mundial pasado jugué de delantero y en este proceso vengó jugando de volante que es donde me siento más cómodo y con más confianza. ¿Qué proyectos tenes después del torneo? Después del mundial mi idea es jugar en Europa, lo ideal sería Holanda pero todavía no tengo nada definido. Después en enero tengo un año más de contrato con el equipo de India (Punjab Warriors). ¿Que es para vos el club Lomas? Que difícil de explicar, Lomas significa mucho para mi, es el lugar que me formo como jugador, ahí me inicie en el hockey, es donde mis amigos están y es la razón por la cual pude llegar al seleccionado nacional. Es el lugar donde siempre voy a estar. ¿Que opinas de la gira que van a realizar tus compañeros por Europa? La gira que van a hacer los chicos va a ser increíble, no tengo dudas, algo de lo que se van a acordar siempre, se que me voy a divertir mucho escuchando las anécdotas.
What plans do you have after the tournament? After the World cup my idea is to play in Europe, ideally Netherlands but I have nothing definite yet. Then in January I have one more year of contract with the team of India, Punjab Warriors, to play at the India League. What is club Lomas for you? It’s hard to explain, Lomas is everything to me, I am the player I am thanks to the club, I started there in hockey as a child and it’s where my friends are and the reason why I arrived to the national team. It’s where I’ll always be. What do you think about the tour that your teammates are going to do? The tour that the guys are going to do is going to be amazing, I have no doubt about it, something im sure they will always remember, I know I’m going to have so much fun listening to their stories.

Durante muchos años de tu vida, a través de distintos roles estuviste y hoy en día estás muy vinculado al Club Atlético Lomas. Como jugador de Hockey y desde hace años también como dirigente: ¿Qué es lo que te motiva a seguir formando parte y cómo condiciona tu vida? La motivación es continuar con un proyecto iniciado hace más de dos años, cuando me convocaron a participar en la subcomisión de hockey. En ese momento, por recomendación de Ariel Holan, me reúno con Claudio Junquet para comenzar a delinear un ca-mino a recorrer y un proyecto para armar. Por supuesto la otra gran motivación es ver a nuestros jugadores, que aman al club, que van evolucionando día a día y llenan de vida a nuestro club. Ellos entusiasman a que uno pueda colaborar para lograr diferentes objetivos. Todo esto acompañado y gracias un clima de respeto, alegría y colaboración de toda la Subcomisión, Head Coach, Capitanes, Coordinadores y por su-puesto Jugadores. En segundo lugar, no siento que el club me condiciona mi vida, ya que nadie me obligo a estar y permanecer. Toda la actividad que realizo en el club, está hecha con una gran pasión, compromiso, y hoy es un gusto estar colaborando acá Hace aproximadamente 20 años integraste la delegación del último plantel de hockey del club que realizó una gira internacional. En principio, nos gustaría saber: ¿Cómo surgió la idea de hacer esa gira? Si hablamos de la gira de 1995 a Inglaterra, no puedo dejar de nombrar a los que realmente impulsaron a todo el grupo de ese entonces, a concretar el sueño de realizar dicha gira internacional: Ricardo Lord, Roberto, Duhalde y Ariel Holan, con los cuales compartí hermosos momentos. Junto con ellos y la gran pasión que pusieron, se obtuvo como resultado una gira impecable en todos los sentidos, con un grupo maravilloso. Y hoy luego de casi 20 años de espera, tengo la suerte de ser el único que repetirá la experiencia de acompañar y compartir con un equipo de caballeros, un viaje que seguramente será inolvidable. Ahora me toca realizarlo con jugadores y cuerpo técnico, totalmente diferente, pero que llevan la misma pasión por el deporte y los colores del club. Casualmente ahora como Presidente de la Subcomisión de hockey te toca participar desde otro rol para que nuevamente se pueda llevar a cabo una gira a Europa:
¿Por qué creés que se pudo lograr? ¿Qué te genera al respecto? ¿Cómo pensás que puede llegar a influir en el grupo y cuáles son las cosas de las que el plantel puede enriquecerse? A mi entender se pudo lograr fundamentalmente por el grupo humano de jugadores y la enorme convicción que tenían cuando se plantearon que querían y que podían hacerlo. Ante todos los contratiempos, que siempre existen en este tipo de eventos, nunca se vio caer el entusiasmo por cumplir el sueño de viajar. Me genera una enorme admiración por este grupo, por todo lo conseguido aun en tiempo de crisis y contra todas las adversidades. Ver cómo se aferraron a sus convicciones de viajar, cómo se comprometieron y cómo se esforzaron para conseguirlo, realmente es una actitud para imitar. El viaje, sin dudas, va a influir en forma muy positiva: sellará amistades y recuerdos que se mantendrán a lo largo de los años. Seguramente enriquecerá su juego y su persona, teniendo la posibilidad de competir a nivel internacional. ¿Cómo ves al hockey del club actual y como vislumbrás el futuro, especial-mente del plantel de caballeros? El Hockey en el club actualmente atraviesa por una etapa de transición, dura y difícil. Pero no me cabe duda que con el esfuerzo de todos, una vez trascurrido el tiempo, se volverá maravillosa. Puntualmente con el hockey de caballeros lo veo pasando por un gran momento, trabajando desde hace casi tres años en forma constante y ordenada. En esta etapa pudieron demostrar que están a la altura de los mejores equipos de Torneo. Es indudable que es un equipo que genera mucho entusiasmo, mucha alegría y mucha emoción. Sensaciones que son fáciles de comprobar: Solo basta con ver un partido de Lomas Caballeros y observar las caras del público que incondi-cionalmente los acompaña a lo largo de todos estos años. El futuro que vislumbro…Creo que está en su mente y en sus corazones, lo tienen ellos, tiene un cuerpo técnico de primerísimo nivel, tiene jugadores de mucha jerarquía y tremenda garra que aman esta camiseta. Solo les falta proponérselo, tal como hicieron con esta gira, y que nada los detenga. El campeonato depende de ellos y creo que tal vez este viaje sea una buena oportunidad para proponérselo verdaderamente. Por último ¿Cuál es tu objetivo o sueño desde el rol que
estás cumpliendo? Existen ciertas condiciones necesarias que nos ayudan para alcanzar nuestros objetivos y lograr cumplir los sueños, que por supuesto vamos a cumplir. Pero una de ellas, que es muy importante, y prácticamente es un sueño en si mismo, es tener una cancha de agua. Contar con una grilla de entrenadores capacitados e informados, para que trabajando en forma profesional, logremos planteles con jugadores preparados para competir como verdaderos deportistas. A los Sueños dicen que no hay que ponerle limites…Hermoso e inolvidable sería festejar un bicampeonato con Damas y Caballeros. Pero no imposible. Existe además un sueño de todos los días, que es ver a este equipo de Lomas de Caballeros CAMPEÓN, con este mismo grupo de jugadores. Jugadores que admiro, me divierto, quiero, respeto y que también vi crecer. En fin, la gira ya no es un sueño…Jugadores y Cuerpo Técnico, saluden orgullosos y vayan subiendo ¡que ya estamos embarcando! You have been part of the club for a long time. You were a hockey player and now hockey manager. Which are your motivations for being part of this? The motivation is to continue with a Project that we started 2 years ago when I became hockey manager and Ariel Holan recommended me Claudio Junquet. We had a first meeting where we defined a project. Of course, the other big motivation is to see our players, who love the club, who are improving day by day and are the heart of this cub. They enthuse us to colaborate and achieve our goals. All this accompanied by an atmosphere of respect, collaboration and joy of all the club members.
repeat the experience. A trip that for sure will be unforgetable. This is a different group of people but the passion for hockey and the club colours is the same. Why do you think that this sports tour is possible now?How do you think this expe-rience will affect the team and which are the positive aspects? I think It is only possible because of the human group and its conviction to do it. Des-pite of all the unexpected that always appear in this kind of projects, the group never give up. I am proud of what they have done in this time of crisis. The trip will affect in a very positive way. It will consolidate friendships and memories that will last for ever. The chance to play in an international level will enrich the playing level of the team. How do you see the hcokey of the club and what do you think about its future? We are in a hard period of difficult transition. But I have no doubts that with the effort of everybody It will be glorius again. The gentlemen´s team is having a great momento. They have been working for the last 3 years neatly and constantly. They have showed that they can compete with the best teams of the tournament. It is a team that generate joy, emotion and motivation. You can understand it looking the expressions of the audience during a match. I think the future is in their minds and hearts. They have a first level coaching team, great players, a lot of energy and love for the club. They only have to propose themself what they want, like they did with this trip. Maybe this tour will be a good opportunity to do it. What is your goal as the club hockey manager?
Twenty years ago you were part of the last hockey delegation that travelled to Euro-pe. How did you come out with the idea of a sports tour?
To achieve our goals as a club we need some conditions, and the main issue now is to have a water pitch. Then we need a group of goodl coaches in order to have the best players.
Talking about the 1995 tour to England I have to mention those who really boosted the dream of travelling abroad: Ricardo Lord, Roberto Duhalde and Ariel Holan, with them I shared great moments. The trip was perfect in all ways and the group was wonderfull.
There is no limit to dream. Incredible would be to win the ladies and gentlemen tour-nament together. I dream everyday about being champion with this team of boys that I have seen grow up and I admire and respect.

A la familia Tricolor Parece que hubiera sido ayer, pero hace más de un año que nos propusimos realizar esta gira deportiva.Sabíamos que no iba a ser una tarea sencilla, pero motivados por el deseo y la convicción de todo un grupo, nos embarcamos en este proyecto.En ese entonces Europa solo era un anhelo, una ilusión. No podemos dejar de mencionar que un viaje de esta magnitud conlleva un esfuerzo económico muy grande, circunstancia que a priori se presentaba como un fuerte obstáculo en el camino hacia este viaje.Fueron pasando los días, los meses y a medida que la fecha se aproximaba, nos dimos cuenta de que no estábamos solos en esta cruzada, sino que contábamos con el apoyo incondicional de un club entero.
Motivan estas líneas el deseo de todo un plantel y su cuerpo técnico de decirle a todos aquellos que colaboraron con este viaje: ”GRACIAS”. Recordando todo el trabajo que nos costó llegar hasta acá y mirando hacia atrás, da gusto mencionar el constante aporte de la comisión y sub-comisión de hockey, los padres, las jugadoras, los ex-jugadores, las inferiores, las novias, los amigos, los sponsors y todos los que en menor o mayor medida aportaron su granito de arena. Sepan que sin todos ustedes esta gira no hubiese sido posible. Infinitas son las gracias.
