TransferRING
TransferRING The Amsterdam city center is locked. There is a congestion of cars and no space for new development, partly due to UNESCO heritageregulations. 'TransferRING' provides the vision for Amsterdam towards the future. A new transportation route restores the former function of the Singelgracht and connects Northern Amsterdam to the center. Along the route transferpoints are strategically placed towards major access routes. Here you can park your car and transfer to and from any other network, to create a optimal accessible city. The transferpoints resemble and function as gate to the historical city and as entrance to finally enclose the developing North to the center. These buildings are more then transportation, they accommodate important functions to bring the citizens, commuters and tourists together. The forgotten canal, the Singelgracht, becomes a connector for Amsterdam on both sides of the IJ-river with a new public transport route. This route functions in a more private and pleasant atmosphere than existing networks. Cabins for max. 4 persons will transfer between the citygates. The potential of the canals will be used by making watertransport a valuable part of public transportation and can reach further into the city as any other transport. Cars are only allowed to pass for inhabitants of the city center, tourists and commuters will switch transport at the gates. A secondary carroute allows travel between the gates if parking is occupied. Green spaces and main attractions are connected over the Singelgracht and connect the center始s in- and outside, North and South. The new canal-ring forms a new zone for leisure, public initiatives, and boost for (re)development. TranferRing makes the city finally as a whole and forms a symbiosis of transport and public networks.
