Zine

Brief This brief is split into two parts. The first will be done by myself and the second in collaboration. Part 1 - To investigate print processes | binding and zine content. Part 2 – To produce an actual zine that will go into production and be distributed. This part of the brief is heavily based around market research and finding out if there is enough appeal for another zine and what the content | design aesthetic should be to make it work. If after market research the zine goes into production then how will it be produced, distributed and funded? Or could it work digitally?

Background / Considerations Producing a strong market research strategy is key to finding out if there is a market for a new zine, are people willing to part money for one or does it have to be self funded through advertising to give it a better chance to become successful?

Mandatory Requirements

Deliverables

Generation of original images and content. Research into print and production costs. Research into producing and appropriate marketing strategy.

10 short zines each looking at layout and design aesthetic plus binding techniques and stock experimentation. Market research strategy and PDF presentation of the findings. First issue of the zine produced if market research drives it into production.
