2013 | Martjanci_Competition for Bike INFO point_2nd place, SLO The Bicyclists’ Info Point project suggests new technical and functional solutions for the implementation of bicycle lanes and urban furniture in cities and villages. The building, with its simple design and new construction details combines flexible implementation and multifunctional use. The basic idea is a bicycle stand with integrated bicycle holds, a sitting surface and a place for advertisements and information. The existing construction can be easily upgraded and supplemented in line with various wishes and needs.

2011 | Romainmotier_Masterplan_Europan 11 competition_coauthor, CH Romainmôtier RUrbanity 02 NEW WAY OF LIFE – RURBANITY

MG146

Europan 11

THE GREEN CONNECTION Croy and Romainmôtier are connected through a new green system a rural park. New pedestrian walking paths up the Nozon valley connect the two villages. Different points of activities sport fields, picnic places, flower gardens, cafés, kids playgrounds, horse riding, etc are placed along this path, based on the events and diversity of activities. That makes it the most vital part of Romainmôtier Coy conurbation. At the upper-end of the green area, the open air theatre is located, facing the romantic vista of the old village with the high tower. The streets of Croy are being repavemented in one straight move from the eco-village in the north to the Nozon river bed, passing two small squares and a Croy fountain. All the green space is recultivated with local plant species. A circulating electric bus line is installed with many stops. The electric bus recharges with the electricity from the photovoltaic panels on the roof of the community centre. At one point the paved road intersect the green connection area, leading to the camp area in order to redirect the traffic from the narrow streets of Romainmôtier.

COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTRE The community centre lies by the main node at the entrance into village of Croy. The architecture follows the dynamics of the space with gradually lifting heights: from cultivated ground to a highway overpass. Building is pierced through its width, making a physical connection between the bus and train stations. The bus station covers the intercity and local busses, including the electrically-powered shuttle that transports tourists and locals through Croy, Romainmôtier and Envý to the camp.

06

The bus station is connected directly to the highway, leading the passengers through the passage of the centre to the path, passing the train station. Communal services, medical care, pharmacy, bank and a post office are located in the first floor; other floors are occupied with offices, library, etc.

The La Signale camping site is renewed to a unique ecoresort. A collection of small tent-shaped wooden cottages is incorporated in to the landscape of the camping site. The cottages are entirely made of wood and they are well isolated for the coldest winter days. The interior is simple, functional and warm. The Glamping (luxury camping) cottages are intended for travelers who want to escape the concrete jungle, and dont want to miss the commodity of a hotel room bed under the stars.

URBANISM ECO VILLAGE

02

CAMP

An Eco village allows people to experience their personal connection to the living earth. People enjoy daily interaction with the soil, water, wind, plants and animals.

West side of the village

The arrangement of houses forms a strong, unified compact settlement which provides a good environment for living. Houses are organized in clusters.

New road to camp site

Public space, community vegetable garden and private gardens are not strictly separated, which forms more opened space. The space required for roads and car parking is reduced and makes the community more pedestrian friendly.

Info point / café

Good views of the Jura mountains and the surrounding landscape are being preserved in addition there are planed six new wooden cantilevers which like swords, pierce the tree crowns and open new breath-taking vistas of the Nozon valley, Romainmôtier Abbey and the surrounding landscape.

01

Different orientations of houses form a variety of spaces, better orientation and diversity of ambiences. Green public area is spread between houses. To provide good social life for residents there are parks, sport facilities and open space to meet and socialize.

Rurbanity is a lifestyle in an environment where people can rediscover their connection with nature and other people through sharing their lives with each other. An escape from daily working rush into a rurban environment with all the services one needs and good connections for commuters who can take a brake gardening and saving money on producing their own food and living an eco-friendly life. Rurbanism is a vision of planning that obscures the duality between countryside and city. It is the sustainable integration of rural and urban communities. It is a sophisticated new set of design principles and practices governing land use, energy, transportation, governance, and all aspects of economic, ecological, and social development for a major city.

HOTEL The design hotel is located on a meeting point between Camp Le Signal and Romainmôtier, by the foot of camp Le Signal hill, with a low construction that follows the line of the hill and dives into the forest. The views from a hotel are pointed onto Romainmôtier with its outstanding Abbey and Old town. ARCHITECTURE – ECO VILLAGE All buildings in the eco village are constructed out of constructional wood produced in a nearby wood plant. All finishes are natural and locally produced.

2011 | Köln, Shanghai_Louwie booth_Tl.oris exhibition design, Drožanjska cesta 65, 8290 Sevnica, SLO Birch forest Like a birch forest is characteristically marked due to its decisive color and it always draws the attention by its difference, we wanted to create a booth that also has a unique character. We combined idea about birch forest with a pavilion look and came up with the design for the booth.

Main path

Loungers area

Exhibition space as well as each pavilion is wide open to effectively present Louwie furniture. At the same time the exhibition space is divided into three sections (loungers area – left, dining table area – middle, lounge sets – right). Each of the section is different size; also each pavilion is of different height, all to bring dynamics into space and to emphasize exhibited furniture.

2008 | Milano_Revitalization of castle walls with contemporary gallery, Castello Sforzesco, _coauthor_mentor prof. Use of the building and re-evaluation of the space The use that was adapted to the space was that of a sculptural museum. Since the space in question was quite narrow a courtyard was added in the front part of the building where the sculptures are to be exhibited. In re-designing the external courtyard, different levels were used so that the historic space gains importance (as if raised on a podium) and so that the sculptures may be viewed from various viewpoints.

31

2008 | Milano_Revitalization of castle walls with contemporary gallery, Castello Sforzesco, _coauthor_mentor prof. Roberto Rizzi, IT Surrounding spaces We assumed that one of the walls of the external courtyard was part of an old castle wall (similar to the courtyard walls of the Castello Sforzesco). The building was further placed into by assuming that the building was once larger than it presently is. This was emphasized by allowing the antique ruins to be seen. The opposite wall of the courtyard was made entirely out of glass, which relates to a contemporary version of the space and allows the ruins to be seen from a distance. Hence the use of glass gives a sense of transparency and lightness as opposed to the bulkiness of the castle wall. Contemporary interventions The space is accessed through the castle at a lower level to that of the historic building. The entrance is through an underground building which stretches transversally through the courtyard. This serves as a ticket boot and also contains public amenities for the visitors. The idea of having an underground entrance was that of transcending from a closed, dark space to an open airy space flooded with light. A lift or stairs lead the visitors to the upper level. The stairs are enclosed in a glass block, which serves the dual function of an enclosure as well as being one of the courtyard walls. All contemporary interventions were planned on a different axis to that of the historical building to underline the difference between old and new.
