– leafy greens and small fruit. Materials used are food grade and also contain a flame resistant component to make it viable to be integrated into urban architecture.
All aponix components are considered infrastructure elements that can be creatively used to create diverse solutions for edibles, ornamentals and general urban vegetation. The components cover a surface like shingles on a roof handing and retaining liquid through multiple levels with different options of irrigation – circulating, retaining water separate from the plant’s substrate or drain-to-waste. Plants are held separate in removable pots for simple maintenance. Some setups also use such systems mounted back to back to create rows of plants or even movable wall elements.
Integrating more jungle and edible plants into the urban metabolism will promote more sustainable behavior of the conscious consumer in the urban area. Citizens will be able to learn to grow plants by participating and being much closer to their farmers and nature also in metropolitan areas again.
For 2022 aponix is planning to introduce a novel TraySystem to extend into young-plant propagation for soilless and substrate based production covering also microgreens.
All aponix solutions are developed, designed and manufactured in Germany.
