“Dropped off our stuff and went in search of a swimming pool. Got to the first one... and it was no longer in use looked like it had been unused for year, what’s with the lonely planet guide”. “Then went to Newton Hawker Market for dinner. “Had a lovely pork meal on New Years Day, & everyone chilled out 45 degrees today!”.

“Went to the Casino... I was wearing flip flops & almost didn’t get in as the bouncer asked me are they ‘thongs’ or ‘dress shoes’ I gave him a blank look and he said the second answer is the one you want”. “Me & Matt missed the last train back and had to wait an hour for a bus. Matt found it hilarious that I couldn’t jump up on the wall to sit”.

“walked miles to see the lighthouse and dolphins although there were no dolphins it was a really nice walk with a nature trail”.

“We went to steve Irwin’s animal zoo, it was really cool watched a snake, tiger, bird & crocodile show, Steve wasn’t their though we just missed him”. “Looked at the doors, matt walked straight into the window beside the doors, it was hilarious”. 15


“Anyways back to Oz day after watching the fireworks we went to Tinbilly’s a cool bar near our hostel... Next day woke up with a hangover”. “Anyways we got there (Coffs Harbour) saw the big prawn & big banana - what eyesores”. “We arrived in Canberra where some skin-headedtattooed junkie proceeded to abuse us! Matt kept his cool very well and did not rise to the bait”.

“Matt only got one and a half hours sleep on the coach”. “Had a look around Mildura nice little town with shops, cinema, pool and Tennis we were sorted”. “One day we got the bus to Red Cliffs and walked miles and miles to the river, it really was a big walk, some guy offered us a lift back”. “Matt worked very hard as Bucket boy and was denied water and sun tan lotion by Tom (slave driver)”. “Matt spotted a red back (spider) amongst the grapes which was great, he killed it,”.

“As time went on we headed to our YHA, man what a trek, we carried on, each clinging to our green bags and finally made it to a small compact YHA building”. “The crown dead posh place with prada shops, Casino, really big place. Matt didn’t really like it & and I’ll have to admit you’d need money to shop around there”. “Since our first night we are loving melbourne, swimming at the city bath which is situated in a lovely old fashioned building”. “We visited the Melbourne Gaol which spooky and where notorious Ned Kelly hanged”.

“We went to the Film and Photography museum which matt really enjoyed it was also raining today, Watch some of the games (commonwealth games) on the big screen in Federation square cheering for England”. “Sat we went to St Kilda to watch the Triathlon this was cool to watch think the Aussies won again”. 20

“Stopped over at canberra and went for a funny meal to celebrate our 5 year anniversary... matt had a stir fry with french fries in it”.

“Got to Queenstown by the afternoon, hostel is nice and Queenstown is cool. Had a quick look around but it was very cold”. “Climbed a steep mountain was bloody knackering and we were sweating buckets... got to the Ski lift to the Luge. I am such a scarely cat and didn’t want to do it. It was piss easy and loved every minute”.

“Moving on to Te Anua, got a bus there only 2hrs journey! But we both felt a little queasy due to the bumpy winding roads and oh yeah the hangovers might have had something to do with it”. “Woke up and hired out mountain bikes, did 4 hours cycling around Te Anau and the lake, saw some terrific scenery”. “Headed off in a boat to see the glow worm caves, this was brilliant... it was pitch black and all the glow worms could be seen it was amazing”. “Next day went to Rotorua only an hours journey, stopped off at Hells gate saw the bubbling Geysers, they were an amazing sight then had a mud bath and sulphur spa”. 24

“Arrived in Fiji not knowing what to expect at all. It was warm, No need for jumpers! As we arrived off the plane 3 Fijian men were singing and playing the guitar, nice welcome!”.

“Arrived at L.A.X and was told our luggage had been taken off the plane in fiji as there was trouble with the breaks”. “We were both so pissed off with the prospect of wearing our clothes for 3 days and having o spend extra time in L.A”. We walked to Venice Beach, nothing special, a bit run down and dodgy. Over the top Rude Americans everywhere and tons of homeless”. “Next day went to Hollywood...really shouldn’t have bothered, took us about 3 hours to get there by bus and when we got there it was a rundown, seedy street with lots of shops selling kinky clothes”. 31


“The good thing about San Francisco is that it is a cool city with plenty to do its was just the people who are annoying”. “Went to the huge park after a morning of shopping... I hired a bike and Matt got rollerblades around the park”.

“Seattle was very cool and trendy went out for a lovely mexican meal, and the famous fish market was a wicked sight, seeing them throwing the fish around for the tourists”. “Toronto was really spaced out city, we stayed on the outskirts and the drive into the city took quite a long time, but it was a nice clean city. We took the guide bus around, but a walk would have a been better after all the food we had eaten in the way up the west coast”. “Niagara falls was brilliant, it looked so massive from whatever angle you looked at it and had a good walk around it, its a shame they built the city with the tacky casinos right next to it”.
