Green Party Brand Manual
The Green Party of Canada is a political party devoted to the preservation of true democracy and the protection of the environment. The Green Party Of Canada shares all the common values of Green Parties all over the world. With this re-design of the brand the Green Party of Canada hopes to reach out to as many people as possible. This new and modern look for the party will help attract new supporters and continue to further the success of the party.

OUR LOGO
The Green Party of Canada logo is based on the Bauhaus Std typeface with some minor modifications. The “eye” of the lower case “e” has been closed off and the “g” has been modified to cradle the globe in the center. Arrows are used on the “g” to reference the recycling process. The globe in the center of the “g” is being protected by the “g” and this highlights the ideologies of the Green Party and the importance of protecting Mother Earth. The logo is much more modern than the previous logo but still has a friendly and approachable quality to it. Bauhaus Std may be used as display type for advertisement and promotion purposes when accompanied by the logo, but the same treatment needs to be made to the lower case “e’s”.

LOGO USAGE
The “G� may only be used alone if the complete logo exists some where else on the same design.
On a white background the logo should be used alone with no background field of colour.
When placed on black or any busy background the logo should be accompanied by a rounded rectangle that meets the requirements of proper spacing around the logo. The colour of the rounded rectangle must be white or one of the secondary brand colors (sun yellow or forest green).

The elements in the logo should never be changed.
The logo should never be distorted, or placed on a diagonal.
The logo should never be placed on a colour field that is not a secondary colour.
The colour field surrounding the logo can only be a rounded rectangle.

TYPOGRAPHY
HEADLINES GOTHAM ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 1234567890 Gotham should only be used as a display type and should only be used in Ultra Bold, Bold, or Medium. Gotham is an extremely well designed typeface with a very large type family to go along with. It has a very modern aesthetic but still has professional appeal. It is a perfect display type for a modern political party.

BODY COPY BASKERVILLE ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 1234567890 Baskerville should on be used as body type and should be used in an 11/12 ratio. Baskerville is a classic typeface that is easy to read and represents tradition and sensitivity. Baskerville is always good for a political party because it is a timeless typeface with a professional aesthetic.

The rounded rectangle is a very important graphic related to the brand. It should only be used to highlight headlines, highlight buttons on the web site, and encompass the logo if needed. It can also be used as a tab coming from the left side of a design. The side bar is always placed on the left hand side of a design. The fill of the bar can be any of the colours in the brand palette or one of the brand images. Its width can change but must always be a rectangle and must always be placed at least one pica from the edge of the page.
GLOBE SHAPE
DROP SHADOW
The latitude lines or the full globe icon may be used as a graphic element when creating posters, or other visual design pieces. They should be secondary elements and should not distract the viewer from the primary content.
The drop shadow may be used if necessary for headlines on top of images or for emphasis on an important headline. It is a secondary graphic element and should not be over used. The light source should always be coming from the top-left.

The images used in the brand must always be detail shots of Canadian Maple trees. The image should contain a representation of the three colours found in the brand palette. The image must also be shot professionally and approved by the design department before being used in any application of the brand.
