Mr. Michele Matteo Marcotulli was born in Rome on June 4, 1992. He began his studies in 2011 at the Faculty of Architecture at Roma Tre University in Rome. Between 2014 and 2015, he completed his third year through the Erasmus+ program in Paris, at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris - Malaquais. During his three years of study, he participated in various projects and international workshops (Rome, Paris, Astana, Naples).
In July 2016, he earned his bachelor's degree under Professor Chiara Tonelli with a thesis on architectural technology focusing on bio-architecture and life cycle analysis, titled "Life Cycle Analysis, Tectonics, and Materiality."
From 2016 to 2019, he returned to Paris to pursue a Master's degree at ENSA ParisMalaquais, where he worked on various projects and international workshops (Athens, Paris, Bordeaux, Chandigarh, Madrid, New York). He focused on urban research, specializing in public buildings and spaces as well as urban policies.
During these years, he also completed several internships and worked at agencies in Paris and Madrid, taking on various roles and contributing to different projects, phases, strategies, and competitions (Paris, SongDo, West Palm Beach, Palma de Mallorca, Madrid). His work encompassed architecture and urban planning, design, as well as graphic design, exhibition management, and communication roles.
Between 2017 and 2019, he conducted research on urban policies for public spaces in Madrid, titled "Madrid Collective Machine: Public Space Policy and Citizen Participation in Post-Crisis Urban Planning."
He graduated with honors in June 2019 from ENSA Paris - Malaquais, in collaboration with Parsons The New School and Columbia GSAPP in New York. Supervised by Professors Jean-Pierre Pranlas-Descours and Ariela Katz, his final project in Practices, Situations, and Architectural Strategies was titled "Silvercup Red Stripe: Architecture + Infrastructure + Public Space—Rethinking the Hybrid Block" in Long Island City, New York.
In recent years, he has focused on developing BIM methodology in large-scale projects, particularly in coordinating various engineering and technical aspects with interior and exterior design. He has also specialized in architectural lighting design, acting as a consultant for all types of projects.
Nowadays, he’s forming as an Art Director in Audiovisual Creativity, exploring the hybrid connections between the build world and the imaginary process of the image and identity creation.
