Discover the Sunshine Coast: A premier educational destination
Study Sunshine Coast (SSC) is your go-to resource hub for information on educational opportunities, lifestyle amenities, career prospects, and community engagement on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Funded jointly by Study Queensland and the Sunshine Coast Council, this initiative showcases the exceptional educational institutions and quality of life available in a safe, natural, and inclusive environment.
SSC’s focus lies in four primary areas:
1. Student and destination marketing: Promoting the Sunshine Coast as an ideal destination for education and lifestyle.
2. Employability and talent pipeline: Enhancing students' career prospects through strategic partnerships and professional development initiatives.
3. Enhancing experience, connection, and wellbeing: Providing enriching experiences and fostering community connections to support students’ personal and professional growth while prioritising their wellbeing.
4. Industry engagement and collaboration: Engaging with local industries to offer practical insights and networking opportunities aligned with students’ career aspirations.
Initiatives include events like the International Students Welcome Event, which features bush walks, Aboriginal cultural experiences, and art sessions. SSC also run innovative projects like Project Global Citizen, a five-week course that enhances students’ cultural competency and global awareness. SSC offers practical skills development courses, including barista training and CPR certification, equipping students with essential skills for their personal and professional lives.
A key initiative, the Student Ambassador Program, recruits international and domestic students to showcase the Sunshine Coast region through social media. SSC is committed to student wellbeing, offering support services such as accommodation assistance and international student celebrations. Study Sunshine Coast aims to foster a sense of community by hosting social events like BBQs and beach volleyball, providing opportunities for students to connect and build lasting relationships. Another is the Mayor’s Telstra Innovation Awards, which encourage high school students to be innovative and collaborative. These awards promote teamwork, allow students to present their ideas to a wider audience, and recognise their achievements.
SSC connects students to industry by offering free tickets to networking events, helping them grow their social capital and gain long-term employment through the Sunshine Coast Student Jobs Hub. Connect with us and discover SCC.
